Recently I've been posting a few threads about the next build, and now the plan is coming together; but need a recommendation for good mobo.
I will be using Antec 1200 case (i have one and bought another because i like it)
I will be using 1000W CORSAIR RM1000x as PSU.
I have not completely decided on the CPU, but am leaning towards at-least a $600 cpus like AMD Ryzen™ 9 9950X3D or Core 9 285K CU-8200 | DDR5-7200 or similar but better ~$1K CPU budget.
Well technically it is more like a $2K - $2.5K CPU+MOBO+RAM budget.
The catch is: I use a blue ray for back-up (90 nostalgia) and have multiple 16TB HDDs for storage. so that means i need a bunch of SATA connectors or PCIe slots for SAS/SATA card in addition to other cards.
I have been looking at MOBOs like ASUS TUF GAMING X870-PLUS but the modern DDR5 gaming boards i see seem to be lacking SATA ports and PCIe slots. Yeah M.2 is great but 16TB SSDs are expansive... plus i prefer swapable trays in the front bays.
Can anyone suggest some good boards i should consider? Perhaps i should be looking more at workstation rather than gaming boards?
DDR5+PCIe5 preferred for future proofing.
Reliability, stability and feature set are important. My current MOBO was like $300 in 2011, so when i now see $200 boards, after 14 years of inflation, i have to question what corners have been cut...
Thanks
