Question Replaced Adaptec 8405 card with another 8405 but new card causes PC freeze. Anything I can try before I give up and return it?

My Adaptec 8405 card died. I bought a replacement 8805 by accident. That card booted but couldn't see the array nor access the data. Bought another 8405 but, that card causes a White Light error on the mobo. Though it looks like the card itself is running. Is the new 8405 busted? Is there anything I can try before I return it?

Are they the exact same model? Do you have another system to test the card, or test the card with no drive connecteds, whatever? If you can get it booting elsewhere, it is possible to check the card Firmware version and update ir or something?
