Yea, have a full year of payments from one annuity, and 2 months from another for the first time with SS payments. I did take out taxes from the annuities, but not sure if I have enough interest payments from my mortgage to get anything back or maybe even owe still, so I'm procrastinating about it now.I'm glad I owe money this year. But this definitely crossed my mind: why bother filing? The only motivation for now is to be able to do an IDR plan for my spouse's med school loans, once we have to start repaying them later this year.
As an aside, I think we should re-embrace civic virtue and the idea of having a duty to society. These are inherently good things in a liberal democracy that help bring us together. Like, I don't mind paying taxes, even for services I may not directly benefit from - that's part of living in society; or I have jury duty coming up - I'm not looking to get out of it. Community doesn't come by itself: we have to make it. And it's far more positive than being irony poisoned, FYGM, isolationist shitheads like the current crop in charge.
Make it part of the strike negotiations, withholding all taxes until after his removal.I think we shouldn’t file and put the money in a high yield savings account for four years and then pay if there is a peaceful transfer of power to the next president.
