With the GFX940 patches in full swing since first week of March, it is looking like MI300 is not far in the distant future!
Usually AMD takes around 3Qs to get the support in LLVM and amdgpu. Lately, since RDNA2 the window they push to add support for new devices is much reduced to prevent leaks.
But looking at the flurry of code in LLVM, it is a lot of commits. Maybe because US Govt is starting to prepare the SW environment for El Capitan (Maybe to avoid slow bring up situation like Frontier for example)

See here for the GFX940 specific commits
Or Phoronix

There is a lot more if you know whom to follow in LLVM review chains (before getting merged to github), but I am not going to link AMD employees.

I am starting to think MI300 will launch around the same time like Hopper probably only a couple of months later!
Although I believe Hopper had problems not having a host CPU capable of doing PCIe 5 in the very near future therefore it might have gotten pushed back a bit until SPR and Genoa arrives later in 2022.
If PVC slips again I believe MI300 could launch before it

This is nuts, MI100/200/300 cadence is impressive.

This card goes very well with white-themed rainbow vomit. My niece would LOVE the shiny lights.

Oh, and it include a metal adjustable graphics card support which is like Atlas holding the world. The plastic tip pops off to reveal a screwdriver. Nifty. I see where the $100+ markup comes from.

Has 5V ARGB cable to sync up with your seizure-inducing light show. Pew pew!

Running Unigine Superposition 1080p extreme currently.

Can anyone with a 9070XT please run a Blender Open benchmark?

We need to note here that the 9070 cards couldn't run Blender Benchmark right now. Instead, we needed to get a special build of Blender 4.4.0, the full application, that supported the RDNA 4 GPUs. It doesn't appear to have inflated the new AMD GPU results, which end up being slightly ahead of the 7900 XTX and 7900 XT for the two newcomers. Nvidia meanwhile beats AMD's fastest card with the 4070 and above.

Umm ackshually analysts suggest they're already back up to 17% because Nvidia refuses to ship.
Consider Intel is at 0%. Then look at the Steam survey of hardware where Intel is not 0% of market share. I do not trust published numbers by analysts. Steam surveys are real world usage.

It's of note that there were substantial stocks of RDNA3 that sold well over the past three months, not because people particularly wanted them, but because there was such shortage of GPUs on the market. If NV does not ship cards in volume soon, AMD might get a shockingly high second quarter. (It would probably go down again as soon as NV actually ships product to sell.)

Consider Intel is at 0%. Then look at the Steam survey of hardware where Intel is not 0% of market share. I do not trust published numbers by analysts. Steam surveys are real world usage.

Two things to unpack:

1. The analyst numbers track sales, not install base.
2. The analyst numbers track AIB cards, not integrated.

Congrats, I find it strange that people complain over 30 dollars. (This should have been 30 dollars cheaper)

When they are going to buy th AIB with the factory overclocks and better coolers ect. ( Not you)

Like when I got my 9800X3D for 479. Oh it was 30 more than the 7800X3d when it launched!!! (X amount of months prior). I was able to backorder from Newegg, I got it 2 weeks earlier than they said it would be here. I mean 30 bucks, for all these ballers. SMH.

Then there is the Tariff threat, that all retailers are pretty much taking advantage of.

Nvidia has no stock, it's because it's selling so well. AMD has no stock it's because they cannot supply enough stock. SMH.

/rant off, congrats on your new equipment.

At this point I can conclude its AMD's software holding them back a lot in Blender. HIP isn't great.

That said RDNA4 made major improvements to RT and glad to see that is reflecting in Blender when compared to RDNA3.

The 9070 XT is not even beating the 4070 means that Optix has years of optimisation.
