8GB
Horizon Forbidden West 3060 is faster than the 2080 Super despite the former usually competing with the 2070. Also 3060 has a better 1% low than 4060 and 4060Ti 8GB.
Resident Evil Village 3060TI/3070 tanks at 4K and is slower than the 3060/6700XT when ray tracing:
Company Of Heroes 3060 has a higher minimum than the 3070TI:

10GB / 12GB

Reasons why still shipping 8GB since 2014 isn't NV's fault.
  1. It's the player's fault.
  2. It's the reviewer's fault.
  3. It's the developer's fault.
  4. It's AMD's fault.
  5. It's the game's fault.
  6. It's the driver's fault.
  7. It's a system configuration issue.
  8. Wrong settings were tested.
  9. Wrong area was tested.
  10. Wrong games were tested.
  11. 4K is irrelevant.
  12. Texture quality is irrelevant as long as it matches a console's.
  13. Detail levels are irrelevant as long as they match a console's.
  14. There's no reason a game should use more than 8GB, because a random forum user said so.
  15. It's completely acceptable for the more expensive 3070/3070TI/3080 to turn down settings while the cheaper 3060/6700XT has no issue.
  16. It's an anomaly.
  17. It's a console port.
  18. It's a conspiracy against NV.
  19. 8GB cards aren't meant for 4K / 1440p / 1080p / 720p gaming.
  20. It's completely acceptable to disable ray tracing on NV while AMD has no issue.
  21. Polls, hardware market share, and game title count are evidence 8GB is enough, but are totally ignored when they don't suit the ray tracing agenda.
According to some people here, 8GB is neeeevaaaaah NV's fault and objective evidence "doesn't count" because of reasons(tm). If you have others please let me know and I'll add them to the list. Cheers!

Meh, from what I've read on Steam, the endhanced gta5 is a mess even if you're lucky and they let you convert your account/character to the new version. I'm not going near it for at least another few weeks till they work out any bugs if ever, since its Rockstar. I also don't want to have two versions of the game installed which seems the prudent thing at the moment.

Given that my old 4790k and 2060S can run gta5 original at 60fps locked without breaking a sweat, that screenshot doesn't do much for me. Glossy paint on the suv looks the same and nicer puddles is a big whoop dee doo.

GTA 5 Enhanced is running silky smooth an issue free on my 7800X3D+7900XTX. It looks a lot better than the OG, and FSR native AA and DLAA support are nice additions. It is a significantly smaller install at under 100GB. The old one was a bloated mess. I am doing a playthrough now.

The old one used to be 80GB in 2015, give it a couple of years and it will hit 100GB easy.
And? That's a problem for future us. For now it's about 30GB less than the OG was when I nuked it. In addition I get way faster load times, ray tracing, better AA, and a better looking game overall.

Looks like it's a poster child for "The way it's meant to be remastered"

-NGL there are a lot of older games out there that really just need their lighting model updated to look like they'd been released in the last couple years.

If it can be done without outrageous overhead and shutting out a ton of the market, I say let them do it.

A bit off-topic but is nVidia still the go-to, if you want to stream your gaming sessions?

We're in entry level land so 4060(ti) 8GB or 7700XT 12GB, hopefully I can wait until the 5060(ti) 8GB launches or if AMD is ok RX 9060.

Toasty shills tested these 2

AV1 will make the differences in quality even less notable. The extra VRAM and performance make the 7700XT a better value here in the U.S.

Thx, I've searched and searched and couldn't find anything newer than 6600 and 3060.

For pure gaming I would also go with the 7700XT because of the better value, but I was not sure about the streaming.

Probably Nvidia engineers "helpfully" told them some "trick" to improve RTX 5000 series performance which when used, causes their driver to tank RTX 4000 performance artificially.
Or it’s way more likely that the devs stop stuffed up. Not everything is a conspiracy.

It looks like they optimised for RDNA4 and Blackwell. But gave no care to RDNA3 and Ada. PC gaming is annoying

Edit: that is a big drop, so these devs test anything anymore???
