That is how you destroy military exports. Europe just wants to buy a shed load of weapons and none will be American. Good job, trump and bootlickers

Gazprom not doing very well :

"
March 13 (Reuters) - When the CEO of Russian state gas giant Gazprom, Alexei Miller, opened a lavish Italian palazzo-styled building in central St Petersburg to house the company's export arm 11 years ago, he augured a future funded by European sales.
"This is symbolic," he said, referring to the modern new offices in Russia's most European city. "Europe will increasingly need Russian gas."

The Reuters Power Up newsletter provides everything you need to know about the global energy industry. Sign up here.
Instead, the opulent offices have come to symbolize Gazprom's rapid decline, dragged down by the almost total loss of European markets after the war in Ukraine ruptured Russia's ties with the West.
Reeling under multi-billion-dollar losses and scrambling for savings, the company is now considering putting the palazzo up for sale along with other luxury properties it owns, according to a Gazprom executive and another source with knowledge of internal discussions at Gazprom.

Western oil companies selling aging ships to other countries (I guess, too save money, thinking of a hydrogen and methane feature ) :

Small excerpt from text :
"
European and US shipowners have sold at least 230 ageing tankers into the “shadow fleet” used by Russia to evade western sanctions on its oil exports and help fund its war against Ukraine, an international investigation reveals.

The shipowners have made more than $6bn (£4.8bn) since Russia’s 2022 invasion by selling the vessels to buyers in countries such as India, Hong Kong, Vietnam or Seychelles that are not participating in the economic sanctions against Moscow, the investigation found.

It said Greek owners had sold the largest number of tankers, offloading 127 vessels, with UK companies selling 22 and German and Norwegian owners 11 and eight. Most would otherwise have been sold for scrap at a fraction of the price, it said.

In total, owners from 21 of the 35 countries that have placed sanctions on the oil trade with Russia had sold tankers into the shadow fleet, the investigation, led by a Dutch investigative outlet, Follow the Money (FTM), and involving newsrooms in nine countries, revealed.
"
and
"
“A lot of European shipowners had old tonnage that they thought wasn’t really worth much,” an analyst at Lloyd’s List, the specialist shipping newspaper, told the consortium. “All of a sudden it doubled in value – so they scrambled to sell it.”

Well, back in 2019 something nasty happened , that is like pooring fuel on the fire :

Small excerpt from text :
"
Russian gas has stopped flowing to Europe via Ukraine, ending a major energy route that goes back to Soviet times and had even survived three years of full-scale war between the two states.

Ukraine cut off the transit route after an agreement signed in 2019 expired in the early hours of New Year’s Day, marking a new milestone in Europe weaning itself off Russian gas supplies over the past few years, and prompting immediate power cuts for hundreds of thousand of people in a breakaway region of Moldova.

Russia’s Gazprom said in a statement that it had stopped sending gas via Ukraine as of 8am Moscow time (5am GMT) on Wednesday. Ukraine’s energy minister, German Galushchenko, called the move “historic”, while the president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, described it in a post on social media as “one of Moscow’s biggest defeats”.

Zelenskyy wrote: “When [Vladimir] Putin was given power in Russia more than 25 years ago, the annual gas pumping through Ukraine to Europe was 130+ billion cubic metres. Today, the transit of Russian gas is 0.”

Along with Finland .. that's a total of 114 birds never going to fly. Remind me again, how much is one of those birds?

I assume the Finns receive theirs but anybody else who has orders delivering farther out is going to be a question. There will be no new orders for this plane from Europe or options exercised. Aircraft with no or minimal vulnerability to ITAR will be the only ones considered, namely Rafale and Typhoon. In that vein if Saab wants to sell the Gripen to anybody they're gonna have to get cracking on replacing the US origin or licensed components (especially the engine) for European ones.

I assume Trump took Putin's telling of the Kursk situation at face value because he is of course a moron. This does not describe any position the Ukrainians are presently in.

This is yet another russian lie. Putin constantly declares that our troops are surrounded and that we are in a very bad position. It's been 3 years now.

As early as March 11, comments began appearing that we were retreating from Kursk due to the difficult situation there and the risk of encirclement. This was all happening against the backdrop of the suspension of U.S. aid/intelligence (at that time) and the escalation by the russians, who took advantage of the situation by additionally deploying 12,000 NK soldiers. Considering that this was published in the media on March 11, I suspect the actual retreat began even earlier. Therefore, as of yesterday, there couldn't have been thousands of Ukrainian troops completely surrounded by russians in Kursk, as Putin claimed.

The Germans have suspended the debt brake on defense spending above 1% of GDP. This paves the way to place massive industry orders

Relatedly this also could help solve the problem of the German auto industry shrinking due to lackluster demand. Companies are discussing retooling for defense products in joint ventures with the major arms manufacturers.

The Russians have claimed numerous times over the past couple years that they were "putting the AFU in a caldron" somewhere but it never actually happened because the Ukrainians are not stupid. Lying about this specifically is a very Russian nervous tic.

I think my favorite one was when HIMARS was decimating them they claimed the destruction of more HIMARS systems than we had even sent to Ukraine and if memory serves at the time of that declaration the total number of destroyed HIMARS systems was zero.

The one that they claimed to have nabbed on the second floor of an office building was my favorite from those days.

I am sure that US DOD knows where the Ukraine forces are. We have satellite surveillance even if Ukraine doesn't tell us the exact position. Probably nobody in the DOD wants to tell the SEC DEF that the President is wrong about the Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region are surrounded.

If only Trump had access to intelligence instead of depending on Putin's word. /s
I would assume he gets a daily briefing on the highlights of Ukraine's war that he ignores.

It's not that Trump chooses to ignore them so much as... Trump is incapable of reading them.
The teleprompter is fine because it uses small words. And you notice how much he goes off script anyway. Probably too much for him even then.

Probably a good thing he doesn't read intelligence since he would probably tell putin.
I wonder if there is at least one brain left between someone in that white house and Trump's vacant hole, and if so, I think it's a fair bet that intel might be filtered to the turd and even outright false intel to start tracking for leaks.

I mean, that would be illegal as shit, certainly as treasonous as the currently....15 treasons that Trump has already committed....but ain't a wise intel agent in the world in that position, wouldn't smartly do the same thing with Hair Fuhrer

It's dead.
Everyone going Saab now.

It's so fucking dumb. We were all going towards a planet with less conflict... Now Europe is going to rise to a super power in its own right.

THE WORLD DOES NOT NEED MORE "SUPER POWERS" .. for fucks sake. We need solutions. Not bombs.

IDIOTS.

If the "Superpowers" that exist are Xi's China, Putin's Russia, and Trump's US, then we definitely need a EU Superpower.

I would trade the US as the dominant western superpower for the EU any day. That’s nothing new though, been the case for decades. Europeans are better educated, have better quality of life, better taste … might as well add better economies, business environments and militaries to the list. Somebody needs to carry on enlightenment traditions and it certainly isn’t going to be Trump’s America.
