For just practical reasons Schumer has to be replaced as leader. Republicans know they can get him to fold so future finding bills will be way worse and house Dems will not deal with him now after getting stabbed in the back. I think Patty Murray would be my choice at this point. Nobody in leadership who voted for cloture should be even considered, especially not Durbin.

I mean this needs to be done not for practical purposes but for fucking actual ideological purposes, and a desire to completely change the direction of a party that has lost its way. Not not for being practical.

If Trump is a Putin asset then I think Chucky is a Netanyahu asset, because neither have the interests of America at heart.

The terrible mismanagement of the politics alone is grounds for removal. Bucking the will of like 95% of his party in congress is grounds for removal. Reneging on the plan after house Ds already took the vote is grounds for removal. Point blank lying to voters is grounds for removal.

"The party" knew the way they wanted to go and voted so. One man backed by a few allies, several of whom are retiring and will never face voters again, decided he knew better and told them as much. He deserves to be kicked to the curb.

This pretty well describes the catastrophe Schumer has created for himself in his own party's congressional representation.

https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/15/politics/schumer-democrats-faith-spending-bill/index.html

But CNN’s conversations with three-dozen Democratic senators, members of the House, top aides and other prominent leaders detail a cratering of support, with many starting to feel that he can’t be the party’s future and shouldn’t be their present.

“If he doesn’t lose it between now and then, he won’t be leader in two years,” said another Democratic senator, who added, looking ahead to the next expected Congressional showdown, “he can’t be trusted alone to negotiate the debt limit.”

Schumer has told allies he saw these lunches as his strategy, trying to let colleagues coalesce around which of the bad options they felt was worse by arguing with each other, but without his twisting arms either way. He didn’t want a shutdown. He felt like Democrats would lose the political fight over one. But he says he wanted his colleagues to get there themselves.

He also called multiple senators into his office to tell them they had to convince particular colleagues to vote yes, and urged several leaders of Democratic-leaning organizations to tamp down their rhetoric pushing for a shutdown.

And when Schumer announced his own yes vote, it was not just within a day of floating an alternative strategy—he even surprised one of his closest allies, according to multiple senators: Washington Sen. Patty Murray, the ranking member on the Appropriations Committee and far from a standard resistance figure. She ended up voting no.

Several close to Jeffries himself, meanwhile, scoff at Schumer’s suggesting that House Democrats didn’t think Johnson would pass the bill, arguing the senator doesn’t get how much obedience to Trump has come to define Republicans in Congress. They think Schumer never understood Jeffries’s strategy was to push for the fight since he was convinced Democrats could win, and worried about the policy and political consequences of putting a rubber stamp on the Republican bill.

At a panel of union leaders at their retreat, Connecticut Rep. Rosa DeLauro asked them to call Schumer to remind him that they supported a “No” vote. Several did. Schumer told those he spoke with he still felt confident he was right.

Later in that same strategy session, another House Democrat vented more broadly: “What’s Chuck Schumer thinking?”

Another voice shouted back from the crowd, “Of himself!”

Many members started to clap and cheer, according to two people in the room.

“The relationship is broken,” one House Democratic member told CNN. “The anger is so strong right now that the future is hard to imagine.”

i think you are letting fear and anger cloud your judgement here.

Fucking Obama is going a bit too far.
Fuck Obama for his disappearing act after the election - and for chumming it up with Trump at the Carter funeral, and for even attending the farce that was the Trump inauguration day. The Dems have looked rudderless and pathetic for years now. Only Kamala put some spirit back into the party just by her energy, and then the consultant Dems shoved her further to the right. And with Trump coming into power the Dems look completely lost. The leadership is doing almost nothing, they have no strategy at all, no guidance, no real opposition. This is the time for people just like Obama to step in and help guide the party and get them working somewhat functionally before it's totally too late. I mean it's only like complete oppression of all Americans if the opposition doesn't put up the right fight. You know, small stakes.

I agree.
"The Dems are mean" will be said regardless of how much or little they do. May as well own it and go full bore

Well I for one never thought I would see the lock step party throw themselves into the wood chipper over an election loss.

I'm glad Chucky doesn't have to stay and deal with a government shutdown, his book tour starts this weekend or on Monday. Great luck nothing interfered with that tour!

I'm hoping to be able to make it to protest outside his NYC venue on Tuesday night. The dates of his book tour are all over social media and I do hope there are lots of protestors against that feckless fascist collaborator.

The Democrats are also doing pathetic when it comes to the Trump regime disappearing permanent residents.

Because the Democrats were mostly pawns of the Israeli administration, didn't speak up for the Palestinians enough, and went along with calling anti-war protesters as being anti-semites, they aren't doing shit about this guy who got disappeared.

In fact half the statements, overly long and boringly verbose, released by Democratic leadership, attacked the victim himself first, before even turning to the horrific illegality of it.

So they're fucking weak on that. They just helped pass the fucking Trump CR which is now giving the fascists permission to do more of what they want.

There's been no real messaging and no real strategy and absolutely no cohesiveness. Many even recently voted for a cabinet nominee.

I'm not sure you could have a worse opposition party at this point.

I mean if Schumer is not out by middle of next week, we can just laugh some more at these clowns.

Sorry about that. Charlie decided to stand on the keyboard. I wanted to say the book tour will be canceled due to riots.

Data on how badly D senate leadership has misjudged the mood of their own voters continues to accumulate.

If you looked up "feckless" in the dictionary, it would show a picture of Tim Walz.
Oh yeah. You're the guy who has a giant hard on for Tim. He lives rent free in your head, you are obsessed, and we caught you in multiple lies about him and you just kept on repeating them.

Wacko.
