With the GFX940 patches in full swing since first week of March, it is looking like MI300 is not far in the distant future!
Usually AMD takes around 3Qs to get the support in LLVM and amdgpu. Lately, since RDNA2 the window they push to add support for new devices is much reduced to prevent leaks.
But looking at the flurry of code in LLVM, it is a lot of commits. Maybe because US Govt is starting to prepare the SW environment for El Capitan (Maybe to avoid slow bring up situation like Frontier for example)

See here for the GFX940 specific commits
Or Phoronix

There is a lot more if you know whom to follow in LLVM review chains (before getting merged to github), but I am not going to link AMD employees.

I am starting to think MI300 will launch around the same time like Hopper probably only a couple of months later!
Although I believe Hopper had problems not having a host CPU capable of doing PCIe 5 in the very near future therefore it might have gotten pushed back a bit until SPR and Genoa arrives later in 2022.
If PVC slips again I believe MI300 could launch before it

This is nuts, MI100/200/300 cadence is impressive.

Some people here use absolutes in an attempt to mislead. "Nobody buys radeon"
"Everyone is paying scalper prices"

Reality is not black and white. Plenty of people choose radeon and the vast majority of people arent paying scalper prices.
I never said that or anything like it. What I said was that gamers are currently stealing their grandparents' life saving heart medication and selling it to street thugs for GPU money. I specifically said that gamers love to punch their mother in the face to steal her wallet to pay a scalper. I said gamers would trade their children for GPU money. That's what I said.

I see the ugliness as a strength. I wouldn't have been able to buy one if it was desirable.
I bought a Steel Legend 9070 specifically because the mild but real factory OC… and for the lights 👀 and looks 👀.

I was surprised it was a “white” card or a “black” card but some sort of gray white mashup sure to not really fit with either. But it’s going with my sons Sonic motherboard so it’s pretty much whatever since that board is its own thing too.

Some people value the ARGB I guess (this card has a header to tie it into the motherboard too without adding more software, which I actually do appreciate)

I appreciated the LED off switch. I couldn't find the OC version, only the stock version. Which is fine, I run it with Radeon Chill enabled anyway.

It truly is a scalpers market.

You could just set up shop as a registered business to make it look like a standard IT supplier and then sell them like a scalper on eBay instead.

Team AMD Roundtable

In addition to Ms. Saki Suzuki and Mr. Sato of AMD, Mr. Haraguchi of ASRock, Mr. Ichikawa of ASUS, Mr. Kawamura of GIGABYTE, Mr. Nakajima of MSI, Ms. Fiona of PowerColor, and Mr. Nakajima of Sapphire took to the stage at the Team AMD roundtable.

Each manufacturer spoke about AMD products, but they were worried that they couldn't produce Radeon because they didn't have GPUs, even if they wanted to sell them. This put AMD's Sato in a pinch, but when he said, "AMD isn't used to selling graphics cards..." everyone burst out laughing.

Vastarmor
I looked them up. Pushing hard in DIY and esports in China.
ASRock for them 2nd tier?
That is surprising that Vastarmor would have higher status. Benefit of being an exclusive partner? Asus is mainstream prebuilts so their being first-tier makes sense.

I had no idea ASRock had a passively cooled 7900XTX with 12V-2x6.

Why not? AMD card was doing very well in this - that was the whole point to show that 5 times the money won't buy much more than 50% perf over it
Not when the the company making a 600 card is being told next time to make a halo card because they can’t compete. That makes no sense. Your statement makes sense. A statement that AMD may have been able to compete with a halo card at 2k may make some sense. Of course a Corolla will get you to your destination the same as a Lamborghini but you don’t compare them.
