It seems when you reach trillion dollar market cap, one of the skills you gain is how to manipulate people using bad graphs.

Looking at you Apple and Nvidia

It's mostly consumers doing it to themselves. Some people aren't content with what they've bought unless they can also believe that it's the best or that they couldn't have possibly bought anything better.

It doesn't take all that much work to massage the minds of these people into believing their own bologna.

I don't think dropping a couple of grand on a hobby makes someone a man-child. Tons of people spend several thousand dollars on a slightly nicer car, or a yearly vacation, or food from out.

Unless you're upgrading every year to premium best-in-class parts PC gaming is relatively inexpensive as far as hobbies go. You can still build a decent rig for around $1,000 that can last you for years if you're frugal and buy when things are on sale. Even games are cheap once you factor in Steam sales and the like.

People will spend loads more if they like fishing, etc. People who are into cars can spend money on parts that make scalped GPUs look cheap by comparison. People into cocaine will spend as much money as they have on it. PC gaming is inexpensive for most gamers.

So after much internal decision making, I decided to keep the 5070 Ti for my younger son's computer, I added a 3050 6GB in case we decide to play some Borderlands 2 together, and I am gifting the 4070 Ti Super to my older son as an early wedding present. The dual GPUs bring back some fond memories and I think they look pretty good together in my younger son's PC. Also, I figure by the time I upgrade my 4090, I can buy something low end for Plex in my home server and move the existing 4060 over to my main gaming rig for PhysX support in the future (say 2+ years the way we're going).

I want to see the mad scramble for that one 5090. I almost think that there are more in the back, but that employees have created this Thunderdome-like environment for their own amusement. Sorry team green, but it's Highlander rules.
It's not. The founder posted another video yesterday and was really critical of nVidia. I've been following them for a few years because they are fairly local and I want to see them succeed. He said they can't 5080 or 5090 cards and that the prices are just too high. It's the first time I have ever seen him be critical of nVidia. He's been pro Intel/nVidia for quite some time, like most SIs.

No even i have to agree... if we had these prices when i was in college, i would not be able to pc game at all.
I honestly think the prices have inflated on nvidia so much it makes the inflation of Mc Donald's hamburger seem gentle.

We seriously need another competitor to knock nvidia off its high horse, especially with Jensen lately being a clown and not even making sense half the time in his presentations.

Really? I quite enjoy that part.

I think the pricing is really the only reason we need a competitor. We want discounted Nvidia cards and we want them now!

I'm more amazed by seeing an acutal pci-e soundcard. I don't think I've had an internal soundcard for 15 years now. It is usually a gpu and maybe a usb extender card.

Wireless USB headset gang here. I ruined a nice pair of headphones by destroying the jack when I stood up and hit the end of the cord.

I know that’s my fault.

The USB headset also makes the internal sound card pretty pointless.

I wanted a good sound card for my Klipsch reference series 5.25in bookshelf speakers and 10in sub. When my son isn't around I like to use it to fill the family room with music.

I still have the same one from 15 years ago, X-fi titanium HD. It still has the best headphone output of any source I have used. I use a separate receiver for speakers.

RTX 5070 availability is a non-issue here in Finland. Even at MSRP (these include 25,5 % VAT).

RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5080 also have plenty of cards in stock but not at MSRP. RTX 5090 and RX 9000 series? Yeah, forget it - especially at MSRP.

Seems to indicate the "false MSRP" as framed by some is a fallacy. It must be a distributor/retailer money grab for most countries, unless we assume Nvidia is discounting cards for this country.

That rather makes Finland the exception as opposed to the rule. Seems like they just have enough supply of 5070 cards that the market price remains at MSRP.

If what your were purporting were true then other Nvidia cards would also be available at MSRP, but according to the person who made the post they aren't.

The demand for the 5070 is probably lower than other Blackwell cards. I don't know what availability for 9070 cards are like in Finland, but it does theoretically have some competition.

All that proves is that there really is an ability to price a card at MSRP. This shows me the inflated price culprits don't include Nvidia. Some are suggesting MSRP is a ruse by Nvidia.

This the amount of cards made available here that sold out within about 10 min. cheapest 5070 was aprox 625€ incl VAT (much lower here so the price is pretty much only due to lower VAT). Interesting that 5070s had mus less stock than 5080.
