I am having terrible problems with Adobe Camera Raw. When I am processing files with it, it is VERY slow, jerky, and virtually unusable. After I perform any operation on a file, it clogs up completely and takes minutes to unclog. The computer I use has the following specs:
Device name CreativeDen
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6850K CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
Installed RAM 64.0 GB
Device ID FD410815-7714-4076-A000-0AB2A1A2A0C2
Product ID 00330-50321-30725-AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display
Display adapter NVIDIA GeForce 3060
In addition, I have set the cache to a drive with plenty of space but only mediocre speed (it is several years old).
As is apparent from the above, my computer is reasonably capable. Also, it does not suffer the same problems when I am in Photoshop proper or any other of my graphics program (e.g., Coreldraw).
I cannot decide what to do.
(a) Do I need to upgrade to a faster system?
(b) Would instally a fast NVMe SSD drive for the cache solve the problem?
(c) Is it possible that I have not set up the cache or graphics card correctly, or is my graphics card too underpowered?
(d) other possibilities
I would be very appreciative if someone with expertise on this issue would help me decide what to do.
