I don't think a lot of us thought that less than 2 months into his presidency Trump would want to annex Canada, and would be detaining white Canadian and European tourists like they are terrorist threats.This is not nuts. You sure about that?CBP has really broad authority to deny admittance of non-citizens into the country. Even if they have entirely valid visas. A lot of people are not aware of that.
I also fully turn off my devices when I return to the US because they cannot make citizens give them the passwords (biometric access usually treated differently).
