Imagine if Trump cleared the path for a third term and Obama were to run and handily beat him lol

I'm sure anyone who has served consecutively would be excluded.

Besides I have a feeling Obama wouldn't want to get involved.

Obama is checked out. Living the good life. Producing shows. He is literally now an elitist, along with his Martha's Vineyard vacay's. He don't give enough shits to get involved as democracy topples daily.. Also having completely been totally wrong about what the Republicans were, and also eventually selling out the progressive Dem beliefs for centrist corporate ones. He ended up being just as complicit as the corporatist Dems we thought he was gunning for.

Obama is semi old and definitely retired in any meaningful sense.
And he's not military.

This is not a moment for old politicians.
This is a moment for taking to the streets.

When you understand that Republicans crossed the Rubicon, and that our Democracy has fallen. Then you will also understand there's no reason for your "Democrats - clueless and feckless" topic, as your clear cross post here echoes. From here on, only the military will decide our fate. The Emperor will decree it and they will obey... or they won't. The next true opposition leader will come from active or former military, and no where else. Only question is if one steps up in our life time or not.

This is shittier than the last one:

"Suri’s lawyer, Hassan Ahmad, argued in his petition that Suri is being punished because of the Palestinian heritage of his wife — who is a U.S. citizen — and because the government suspects that he and his wife oppose U.S. foreign policy toward Israel."

----
They might oppose Trumps foreign policy so they have to be deported ?

Our resident Constitution-lovers will be along to express their outrage at this violation of the 1st Amendment immediately, I'm just sure of it.

Edit: actually, on second thought, the play will probably be "without seeing what the messages actually say, we can't be sure, no reason to think the 1st Amendment has been violated based on the given info"
As one singular constitution lover, I'm fucking disgusted. For whatever that's worth.

Not that it wasn't before, but how fast did murrica tuned completely into a "Banana Republic"!

Karma?
Because laws only matter when people believe they matter and feel constrained in their actions.

If you give someone power and they don't feel constrained, no amount of stuff written on a piece of paper is going to stop them.

It’s the 21st century. There won’t be any death camps…on US soil. When someone else has a competitive advantage—you offshore that shit. Guantanamo and Bukele’s El Salvador got first dibs. I’m sure there will be more. Who’s next…Saudi Arabia?
I think most nazi concentration and death were located outside Germany, no?

That reads like an Onion article, I have aspirations to make love to Halle Berry.

“I’m a firm believer that President Trump will run and win again in 2028, so I’ve already endorsed President Trump,” Bannon told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo. “A man like this comes along once every century, if we’re lucky. We’ve got him now.”

And I'm a firm believer I'll run into Halle Berry while shopping at Ralphs and she'll take me home and have her way with me. That's not how shit works. I understand Trump's doing his best to be a dictator, but he won't be able to run for president again in 2028 just because he doesn't believe the rules apply to him. Bannon sounds high on Crack Cocaine.

It would be great if all the MAGAts wrote Trump's name on the ballot in 2028 thinking that could get him elected a 3rd time. That would ensure that whoever the Republican candidate is doesn't win.

Or Trump somehow manages to change the rules somehow, is able to run again and wins a 3rd election. And somehow as dumb as Trump is, he might actually make all this happen.

I still stand by my statement that Bannon sounds like he's on Crack. If Trump is a once every century person thank god I'll be long dead for next century's version of him lol.

I'm sorry, something else is happening in America. You've been sedated so much by superhero movies, where a super-being comes and rescues the situation, while the regular folks are just bystanders and do nothing... Not doing, just watching and being helped "from above". Just like the god fairy tales... And right now there'd be the time to defend democracy in the streets. Aaaaaand nothing.

I mean, watch Europe and what is happening there. Have you seen Serbia? Georgia? Romania? Hungary? Etc? They are all on the streets. I've not seen in a country of over 300 million souls, a protest of 100k or 500k people.

It takes time to organize a protest that large in a country the size of the US. There are people doing more than nothing, but you're not going to hear about it on the public internet for reasons that should be plainly obvious.

I'm sorry but that's bullshit. You don't have to be gathered, you just have to react to some events.

I remember clearly watching TV when the PM of the time announced some terrible decisions and me, along with some other 30k people, just went to the government building and protested. No payment, no one send us, just felt democracy was in danger. And we stayed there in the winter (February) for a few weeks, day by day, after work. Until they caved in. At the biggest point there were 600k people in all of the country protesting, with 100k in the capitol... No violence, just men, women, coming to protest.

You've had it too easy, you're been neutered, I'm sorry to say it.

Make up your mind, do we have to be gathered or just react? There's a steady stream of protests happening in cities across the country.

It is a bit nuts. I don't think a lot of us thought that less than 2 months into his presidency Trump would want to annex Canada, and would be detaining white Canadian and European tourists like they are terrorist threats.
You're surprised? I'm not in the least.

Welcome to the new and improved USA; saying bad things about Trump can get you jailed.

I can imagine what they will add as a new citizenship question: Do you worship Trump 10 times a day?

Trump would definitely make sure to attach a DEI clause so Obama, or any other brown person would be excluded from running.

Trump won't run for a third term, and there's no path for a constitutional amendment.

Also, he'll be 82 by the time the next term starts, so we'll see how well he is by then.

How can he be well at 82 when he is already as crazy as crazy can be ?
