Qualcomm is on troubles. Good that MTK didn't launched nothing in this moment, if that happened, Qualcomm would be done.

I would like to commend Qualcomm for really competing with AMD for the worst naming scheme in modern CPU history. You got really close Qualcomm, I bet you can take the crown next year.
Qualcomm has launched the new Snapdragon G3 Gen 3, G2 Gen 2, and G1 Gen 2 SoCs for the next generation of Android gaming handhelds.

Nothing beats Mali GPU names in BS.

The challenge for Qualcomm is a large portion of people tethered to Windows also cling to x86.
Anecdotal, but it's far more likely that I switch to a Windows Qualcomm computer than to a Mac. I have zero interest in Apple's walled garden and I think a lot of Windows users are the same way. Apple updating the Macbook Air so that it's no longer a complete ripoff doesn't change that.

I don’t think your Apples main customer then.

1) Apple mainly wants new users who haven’t used windows, that’s why the MacBook Air is important it provides a way into the Mac ecosystem. ( Also why MS always wants to compete with the Air)

2) who are in the Apple ecosystem but can afford to run their all their software on Mac

3) a bonus, people who already have a Windows PC but just want a premium portable device regardless of OS.

Existing windows users will always prefer windows and this is why Qualcomm has a real advantage over Apple but this also a threat to Intel.

Not sure there are all that many such people.

People who haven't OWNED a Windows PC, sure. But people who have never used Windows are fairly rare - people who haven't attended school in the past 25 years and never worked in an office I guess?

There are a lot of people who are USED TO Windows, and wouldn't want to switch not because a Mac can't fulfill their needs but because they view PCs as tools or owning a PC as a necessary evil and just want to take the path of least resistance. Most PCs are Windows PCs, so that's the easiest choice to make. They would view it as an annoyance to have to learn a different way of doing things, so they'd rather have a PC than a Mac all things being equal. Same with x86, ARM is not x86 and not mainstream for Windows PCs and they can be told they're compatible etc. but they'll still see it as straying from the path of least resistance.

These same people probably also don't place a lot of value on performance or features - they just want enough to do whatever it is they need a PC for, and nothing more. So M4's performance or a Qualcomm PC being able to run Windows more quietly than an x86 PC is irrelevant to them, but the fact you can buy an x86 PC for a lot less money than a Mac or Qualcomm PC isn't irrelevant to them.

Apps are only part of the issue.
Try running printer drivers on a WoA laptop.
Ive been telling this for years at this point, you cant jump to WoA with a premium product and expect to be a success. You are pretty much charging premium for a Chomebook with Windows logo on it.

You need to make cheap products and cheap socs so it gains market share and then apps and drivers will come on their own. They are trying to bypass that and go directly to charging you premium for it.

It made perfect sense: Apple did it, Macs have better perferomance and efficiency, and Intel/AMD were not interested in trying to catch up

And now Intel makes 1 time product, that in some or many respects does seem great/competitive, but will not follow up because they are in deep shit, and this is apparently not big enough niche in Windows.

How hard can it be to make printer drivers? Are you telling me I would not be able to use my Brother printer on a Snapdragon PC? Still?

No one is bothering with WoA drivers... not even Nvidia, that is making ARM socs has a dgpu driver yet...

Why you would bother to even compile for it? there are no devices at sane prices.

You need the whole stack.
QC issue is they suck at building value parts (they have premium handset brain).
