You have to wonder about the naming scheme though.

Israel has the Iron Dome, so you may be excused if you were to ponder that someone wanted to one up Israel on the naming scheme, be it in terms of atomic weight on the periodic table, trading value on nasdaq or your favorite coating on the device you do your number two business on.

As a missile defense system I bet Israel thought that "Iron" would convey a signal of unyielding unbending strength. Like "The Man of Steel" or "Iron Fist" or... the list writes it self.

But someone was woke enough to think "lets go a softer route. A more modular and bendy route with this". Lets go with "Golden".

Wonder who that "someone" could be. Definitely something denser.

What are the defensive systems around POTUS? There’s no fly zones constantly maintained around him. There’s portable air defense systems around the WH. Did he force them to set them up around all his properties? Yeah he’s vane enough, he’d love a physical gold structure set up over him. But only around him. OTOH, if focused along our actual borders... then a defense system would be to prepare for the upcoming Wars of the Americas.

NGAD is an Obama era initiative as well as the Navy's FA/XX program.

As it's a core program wherw by all accounts has been run well enough where they've been able to hide funding and the output here is foundational in nature, money will magically appear.

This program is a decade old and a lot of the hard working has been done. Since the US military's ability to invade other countries and topple foreign governments is more important than American citizens there is no way they are going to kill both programs.

The Uk and Italy are also working on their own 6th gen fighter, France and Germany are working on their own 6th gen fighter.

It's simply that time in the cycle where everyone has to pony up.
Fighters are like the timing belt of pew pew pew industry.
Every x amount of years, you gotta get a new one

That's not accurate and you have to consider this moronic directive by tweet, authored by idiots administration.

This isn't about cutting. It's about redirection of funds.
Everyone is being asked to identify "non critical" items and flags them to be cut 8%.
Money saved will be redirected to "critical" items.

For example, retirement of old platforms (from equipment to software platforms) that have only been kept around to keep congress alive. Headcounts (shrinkage of administrative workforce) and initiatives that give the appearance of combating the effects of climate change (like making basis more resistance to forecast changes due to the facts of climate change), and efforts that are related to or support humanitarian efforts (unless it involves Israel).

It's not about spending less. Spending will be going up and the goal is to spend more on programs they care about instead of spending it on money they dont

Well hopefully they cut stilly things like storm proof hangars to put these things in for when a hurricane or two heads for the gulf. I want to see a squadron of F-47s in pieces because they don't believe in woke weather.

Just given uh everything over at BDS I don’t expect delivery of a clean sheet fighter in what I would call a timely manner. Even if the prototypes have many of the kinks worked out. He probably won’t live to see it.
