I don't think they need to ban Gays and Trans in the military as long as they already have their surgery completed on their own dime. They should also be fit for duty as any other service person all to the same standard. Taxpayers should not be on the hook for these surgeries.
If you care about military readiness going forward, you should support trans people in the military. For some time now, and going forward, a large part of warfare is cyberwarfare. Trans women have a reputation for their prowess in that arena (for good reason), if you want to attract and retain that talent for the US military, it makes sense to offer benefits (the same way we offer signing bonuses for specific categories currently).I don't care what they cost.
