Question for those that care enough to keep track of memory usage.

I keep the Resource Monitor open most of the time.

No matter how many tabs or windows I have open, all of the memory SeaMonkey uses is listed as one number ... often goes to 2,500,000 or more.

All Chromium based browsers (Opera, Vivaldi, Brave, etc. ) I've tried list each tab separately. If I have 20 tabs open, there are 20 entries.

What do these others do? How are they listed?

I guess you're talking about windows? I have a bunch of listings in debian, and it isn't clear to me how many are discreet, and how many are shared.

SeaMonkey is still going?!

I'm guessing that the usage shows up differently because SeaMonkey isn't running each tap in an isolated way? Maybe?

I use seamonkey as my i2p browser. It'll run in a flirefox container tab, but I prefer using a separate browser.

I cannot imagine watching YouTube without Ublock.

We need a true open source browser.

Chrome turned off Ublock for me today. I was able to turn it back on and so far it continues to work.

Lets see for how long.

I saw this behaviour on a customer's computer yesterday. The wording and options along each step of the way were reminiscent of when the likes of Avast and AVG used to claim that the free version of their software wasn't available any more and you had to upgrade to the paid version, then after a few more clicks it gave me the option to enable it again.

Google hasn't removed Manifest V2 completely yet apparently. It's only just depreciated. That will happen in June.

Oh well, already switched back to Firefox. Fascist Google can suck my balls. Ugh I hate how the dominant business strategy in America is now to just to get a monopoly at any cost and then enshittify.

I agree. Yahoo mail has started blocking users with adblockers. The service is unusable with an adblocker installed. Every other click brings up a full screen warning. This is what happens when fascist billionaires install their puppets in government. It's only going to get worse.

There is no guarantee that Firefox is even going to survive without the Google money that was propping it up.

The government is attempting to force Google to divest Chrome as part of its requested antitrust remedy against Google. Hopefully, it will happen.

Personally, though, I'm not holding my breath.

I have Firefox on my machine, though I tend to mostly use the Waterfox derivative. I also use Vivaldi a lot as well, though that will immediately end when they finally drop Manifest v2 support.

I kind of lump all the *foxes into one box. Same with *chrome really. They're all basically rearranging the deck chairs. For a massive rearrangement, the firefox fork zen might be interesting to some. I've fooled with it a little bit, but the defaults are so different from the "classic" form, I feel half lost. It's interesting though.

For what its worth. My mom's laptop which runs Windows 11 had Ublock disabled by Chrome a couple months ago. I then added Ublock Lite, and so far it's been working well to block advertisements and Youtube ads as well.
