Contrary to Elon's conspiracy theory that these are orchestrated by some central source it's literally just random people who become organically radicalized.

'Lone offenders' carrying out Tesla attacks, catching them 'difficult,' FBI, DHS say

Attacks on Tesla dealerships, cars and equipment are "rudimentary" and require little planning, according to an FBI and Department of Homeland Security assessment, which says lone offenders are the ones carrying out the attacks.

“These criminal actions appear to have been conducted by lone offenders, and all known incidents occurred at night, making identification and arrest of the actors difficult,” the assessment says.

“While they may perceive these attacks as victimless property crimes, these tactics can cause accidental or intentional bodily harm,” the assessment dated March 21 and obtained by ABC News says. “Some individuals with political or social goals are likely to view the publicity surrounding these past incidents as validation that these tactics are successful in drawing public attention, and they may be galvanized to engage in similar violence.”

That's probably because the states infact have the biggest influence on that. Is there a breakdown of student performance by state? I'm guessing we can find some trends in there in GOP controlled vs Dem controlled.

While at it, break down the large democrat controlled cities vs. the rest of the state.

States/districts already decide curriculum. That's not on the dept. of education. All that will be accomplished by shutting it down is that you will lose tons of teachers and tons of schools. Mostly in rural red districts which are already dumber than shit.
I'm interested in understanding what the DOE brings to the table. More bureaucracy for sure, more administrators, lots of money going to people other than teachers. How does it help our children? The results speak for themself. What is the ratio of teachers to administrators, DOE and State? I have many teachers in my family. All would fall right in line with the majority in this thread. One is a Director of DEI for a School district. Good guy, I like him a lot. I hope his efforts can be redirected because he could have a lot to offer if he can focus on outcomes for all students. Equality, not equity.

States have always been the main controlling body of education in their states
OK, why do we need the DOE if the States can manage it? Find the areas the DOE offer value and where they produce student improvement, cut them if the are frivolous money drains. The results are embarrassing.

You can just search this up yourself, really. But since you asked

This is why modern conservatives are told to hate the federal doe, not because they know what it does or care to find out, but because rolling back civil rights protections is a major piece to dismantling the USA as we know it:

“The anti-poverty and civil rights laws of the 1960s and 1970s brought about a dramatic emergence of the Department's equal access mission. The passage of laws such as Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 which prohibited discrimination based on race, sex, and disability, respectively made civil rights enforcement a fundamental and long-lasting focus of the Department of Education. In 1965, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act launched a comprehensive set of programs, including the Title I program of Federal aid to disadvantaged children to address the problems of poor urban and rural areas. And in that same year, the Higher Education Act authorized assistance for postsecondary education, including financial aid programs for needy college students.”

Read more about what else is going to change:

My personal anecdote is you engage them when things in your district start to head in a direction that courts will be involved. They’re there to help all students, not just the ones who can afford it.

Whats embarrassing is your lack of basic knowledge about the department that you seem to hate because youre told to.

If you think the state of education is bad now, just wait until districts nationwide are forced to cut staff and services. Youll have a lot of students not making it to graduation, just like the good ole days. But this really seems to be the goal, cheap labor thats easy to exploit.

And since im sure your deeply concerned about checks and balances, where did congress provide approval to dismantling a government agency?

I cant tell if youre lazy or education wasnt part of your life.

What you asked for here in your reply is what they do already. You want to address results, you start at the state level. Americans have been groomed to believe their woes are due the fed, when it comes to education thats largely incorrect…until now.

More and more I find myself reviewing songs and lyrics of our past. Rage Against the Machine is especially poignant now, watching fascism take hold with many "real americans" cheering it on. The attack on education has been going on for decades, and here we are about to dismantle protections for students. Maybe this is what MAGA means, to roll back to a time that we shun segments of society who can't afford education, or whom we just deem unworthy of an education because of their disability, ethnic background, religious preferences, etc...

Link to 14 Characteristics of Fascism

#11 - Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts
Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

You know, the whole "We should really close the DOE, but I have no idea what the DOE actually does" isn't really a great rhetorical strategy.

SpaceX apparently allows Chinese investors if they route their money through places like the Cayman Islands... Seems suspicious for a defence contractor.

San Diego county only voted a couple points to the right compared to CA as a whole. I would not call it "very MAGA".

Large parts of East San Diego County are very MAGA, Lakeside, Ramona, Alpine etc. They wear their MAGA flags proudly but the population density get's a lot lower. So depending on what part of the county you are driving through perceptions can vary greatly.

Of course but that's a pretty common urban/suburban/rural kind of distribution that we are used to seeing now.

I worked at a subsidiary when that happened. They'd announced they were locking down the 401k system for a week for maintenance and during that time the stock absolutely plummeted. People had most or all of their accounts in Enron stock, because it had already split several times and they were (on paper) rolling in dough. Tons of people lost high six figures at least.

Let's just say there was considerable......angst.

is that...legal? sounds really um, fucked up and not at all legal.

this is all merely an effort to privatize the education system, which means religious schools and shifting money from the people to fewer and fewer special interest corporations that, guess what? now own the education system. also highly nationalized to the select admin and their biggest donors. This is ALL this has ever been.

Charter schools, which is what this religious takeover has been called for a long time now, statistically perform near the same but usually worse than the public system, without doubt, and we know this after 2 decades of data with this failed experiment (well, it's not failed, because the point all along was to shift more and more wealth to fewer people, and have them control the system that will just create more useless drones in a state that will no longer require highly educated workers. why? because you deport the lower income workers because "reasons" and refill those coffers with just dumber and dumber people that will be more prevalent as our highly-educated workforce shrink back from the highly educated jobs that this country was designed for, as those jobs are more and more eliminated--DOGE and other anti-education republican wet dreams).

That's not enough dumb workers to replace the gaping 30 million laborer force that these taints plan to deport? Well, just loosen the generations-long child labor laws! As the state school system disappears, as absolutely planned because it can not survive without the DOE, full fucking stop, the kids that literally can't afford the new jacked-up tuitions at what will be vastly poorer-performing shit private schools, they will just head to the sugar cane and the salt mines, as god intended!

"DEI" is your boogey man, too? the fuck is wrong with you? I guess we ran out of immigrant caravans and CRT, right? New buzzword for you to learn about over the last 6 months, suddenly become an expert in it, and really decide THAT is the true evil that keeps you up at night because the previous ten evils that were fed to you by the same gaslighting liars just never actually materialized. Who knows, man? Maybe SOME DAY you'll finally learn what the fuck is actually going on around you.
