I love comparing the financial statements of Canadian mining companies to the bullshit on the front pages of their websites. One that I am currently working with has a market capitalization of more than four times the value of their ore, should they get around to mining it. A “rising giant” that will be flat broke in less than six months at their current burn rate. They are “in it for the long haul” which is true as takes about a decade to get from where they are to an operating mine and also takes about a hundred times the capital they currently have. Also relevant is that the Canadian securities laws are really loosy goosy so the numbers on their financial statements are likely inflated beyond anything a US listed company would attempt.

@Red Squirrel is our resident Canadian mining expert, mabye he can help you.

But yes, even at $3,000 an ounce for gold, some mines wont make anything because they are just money pits. And to fund operations they dilute shareholders on a regular basis and they have zero credibility one day and go out of business. In the meantime, enjoy the nice pay packages paid for by shareholders believing in your "dreams".

Did I ever mention, most small biotechs, EV companies, you name it, do the exact same thing?

I have a small amount of Oxy warrants in my Roth IRA. I have a 'reduced' amount offer of 21.30 instead of 22 that is good until 3/27. I've never dealt with converting warrants or selling them. Oxy's current price is 48.80 and schwab says my cost basis is 34.65 per warrant but that doesn't seem right.

The warrents don't expire until 8/3/2027. Should I hold them, sell them, or convert them? Is there an advantage for any of those options?

Thanks!

Today I learned the term “backwardation“. I shall attempt to work it into my daily vocabulary as it is sure to bug the crap out of others as much as it annoys me.

I don't remember exactly what process it's used to describe - in the context of oil furtures. But do vividly remsmber that it's an important parameter that traders watch

Short timeframe deliveries are priced higher than longer term deliveries. It signals a short term supply shortfall.

That's one ugly market. 😞

I am thinking just like 2008 the market isn't hugely crashing at the moment because huge firms are manipulating the prices in order to dump shares onto unsuspecting buyers. I got out of every share except 3: AVGO, GOOGL, AMZN. Basically down 20% across 3.

I expect it to get a lot worse because the administration will just present fantasy numbers anyways. It won't really hit home till maybe next year.

I was thinking 35% down before.. but it may actually go down by 70-80% with the policies this administration is putting out. (S&P 1500 next year or thereabouts)

Basically Felix the beatings will continue until morale IMPROVES and you will say Thank You!

Bring it on. 90% of my 401k is in bonds waiting for a juicy bottom.

Payments are averaging down into an index for the next 3.7 years. That's the smart way to play it.

Looks like things are moving into the dumps. Got a text that one of my somewhat low-priced limit buy orders executed for VXUS... Fortunately, it's for an inherited IRA that I'll be taking RMDs from for the next 40 years. A nice, long horizon.

Thanks Trump! Driving us right off the cliff because you and your cronies are just stupid.

This is going to get a lot worse before it gets better and I'm not sure this is the true bottom either.

Bottom line is when you piss off your allies & trading partners, they don't want to buy from you & will find alternate suppliers.

MAGA policies are going to ruin portfolios!
