I'm wanting to install LVP in my room, I don't know shit about flooring, and I'm not exactly super handy. But I watched a bunch of YT videos and most of them are like "this is easy beginner shit, even a MAGA could do it." My brain's telling me to be smart and just pay a contractor. But my heart's telling me to listen to random Youtubers and do it myself. I suspect if I do I'll fuck it up so bad I have to end paying a contractor double because they'll have to undo the diaster I created and start over.

anyone here installed LVP? I mean someone who's a computer nerd and not a weekend warrior.

Ya know, this is all a bunch of fucking bullshit. Trying to look in the future and guess what happens based on the whims of a moron, and a 100% corrupt, and incompetent government. I was pissed at myself for forgetting to buy a case of canola oil last week at aldi. I use that as bar oil for my saws. You know what "canola" means, right? It's Canada_Oil_Low_Acid. We grow some rapeseed here, but I think the majority is Canadian. I need to try to guess what products are gonna go up in price, and hedge against it for no good reason other than a fucking idiot jerking the gearshift around. I spend half my day pissed off, and wakeup almost every day homicidal...
Got my case of canola today. $3/48oz bottle. Product of USA & Canada. That's 42¢ cheaper per bottle than the last time I bought, which was when the traitor caused inflation previously. I don't actually believe Trump solely caused the inflation last time. There were supply chain issues from covid, but fuck those motherfuckers. They blame anybody that's somewhere close that isn't them when anything else happens, they can own covid inflation.

It'll be interesting tracking the price. $3/bottle is easy to remember. Curious if the price goes up.

Got one! 1,6 Dioxyheptane

I think, If not, be sure to forget this answer by tomorrow.

Very good. That works, but the preferred name is 6-oxoheptanal. Gets the point across though. Now what reagent(s) and solvent(s) do you use to get it from the parent molecule?

Good ones, important ones, reagents that will lead the young queen to certain glory and a long reign.

Hah! That's roughly how I taught myself to memorize things. I have to really work at it like that though - if I don't I get things easily switched around. I also repeat what I'm trying to memorize in my head over and over again. Great link, thanks for posting it.

I didn't learn how to study until halfway through college. I didn't learn that I had executive dysfunction (Inattentive ADHD) until I had failed a few semesters in college. I graduated with a 1.9 GPA in high school & it took me 14 years to get my 2-year degree.

It's not impossible, it just required a different approach to get the same job done. I've compiled some useful methods in the post below. The memorization trick is a real time-sink but is HUGELY effective!

I keep looking at land I can't afford and it makes me sad.
I know this feeling. There was a forty acre parcel that sat on the market for years. We walked the whole thing multiple times and really liked it as it had a 350 foot hill on it, had National Forest access, and the aspect faced the forest and away from the city. We could have paid cash but doing so would have left us with no cushion. Tying up that much cash we just couldn’t get to. Someone bought it a couple months ago so the opportunity is lost. Given the current state of the world, we are glad we didn’t bite but regret seeing it go.

Yep. If I look, I'll try and make it work, and screw myself in the process. What's bad is that I want land in the Southwest, so I'll never be able to visit it.

It's not a habit, it's cool. I feel alive...

You are not the owner, right? So you will pay for the whole thing and some day get evicted. What's the point?

Correctamundo, which leads me to a 1stworldproblem. I have bad credit and nowhere near enough money to buy a house. So I'm "stuck" here. Doubtful I'll move ever, so since I might be here for the rest of my life. I figured eff it and decided to make the most of it. Is spending $750 on flooring for a room I rent stupid? Well it's not smart, that's for sure, but if I live 20 more years I'll still be here, so I might as well treat it like it's my own. And if I actually live long enough, I suspect I'll still be here when the flooring needs to be replaced lol.

You should put it on your line of credit. Just like Red Squirrel.

I originally paid that off with the company ESP. Bought my truck and the property on the credit line then cashed in the ESP to pay for both once the money showed up. Had to be quick to buy the property, unorganized land does not tend to stay on the market for long.

Land is never a bad purchase, it's something you have forever, it doesn't go bad. New vehicles cost more than land now days, and those only last 20 years if lucky before they rust out beyond repair.

Unfortunately land around here is getting pricey quickly, even the rural woods kind of stuff I want. I suspect I'll be downsizing my house in 5-10 years and may just get some land a build something small.

I got super lucky TBH. My same land would probably be close to double the price now. I see similar land go for sale sometimes and they're asking close to 100k.

I thought computer stuff was on the 'never buy from amazon' list due to counterfeits?

Surely it's the other way round?

I generally don't buy much from Amazon (because I don't like Bezos's political behaviour) but I make an exception for memory cards because buying direct from Amazon seems the only way I can be sure of not getting a counterfeit (without paying excessive prices that the B&M stores here seem to charge).

Amazon _marketplace_ on the other hand, seems awash with fakes. Sometimes amusingly blatant (e.g. cards with stated capacities that nobody has yet manufactured).

How many acres do you have? I want at least 20, preferably way more, but I need to be realistic. I want something with enough trees that I can be completely out of public view. I'm not going to do this, but I want to be able to fire a weapon at my big bonfire while naked and have no one know or care.
