Thanks Trump.. really pwned the libs there!

Truth is we'll all be pariah's just like the Russians we didn't want to deal with, or the North Koreans or the ______________. (fill in the blank)

I don't see any way out of this unless you're filthy rich and able to live off investments.. this will truly hurt jobs in a global economy.. especially tech workers!

Or we can split the country like many have and then we'll be seen favorably like South Koreans instead of North Koreans or something.

Until our cities are burnt to ashes, our families are dead, and the survivors are beholden to another nation.
Only then will Americans know the price they have paid for following Nazi Germany into becoming evil incarnate.

We have not yet felt any pain by comparison to the debt that is owed.

He's saying he lost work with a Canadian company because US accents are not popular now?

It's a surprise to me that Canadians and Americans can even tell each others' accents apart. Not sure I can.

If you are a company hiring voice actors regularly then they can probably tell the difference. Anyway he said they don't want to do business with America also.

From what I've read Canadians boycotting American goods and services is a pretty real thing these days.

Broadly speaking, the difference is readily apparent.
Back on topic, it's a shame the fellow lost a part time gig, but hardly headline news.

There are many articles on this topic. And a thread dedicated to it

It is not isolated just to a single person

^ Empathy for me, but not for thee?

Who coulda guessed?
The fellow lost 20% of his income when he lost the contract. That's pretty common when you're a contractor. Now he has to look for a new gig, that's also common when you're a contractor.
Where is the empathy for the people who bought Tesla's because they wanted to get away from fossil fuel and now they're cars are being vandalized because of Musk hate?

Tesla owners are truly the real victims of Trumps economic policies is an interesting take.

The two evil shitheads will consistently carry the water of evil. No private Teslas have been destroyed, just insured new units on Tesla dealership lots. And not even that many.

I really hope those two fuckers feel some pain from Trump's policies. I will enjoy it so so much.

Going to Northern Italy this summer, thinking of just saying I'm from Greece, and make a quick backstory.
Just get some Canadian flag pins for you and the wife. Prob what I'll do if I travel internationally before Hitler closes the borders. Can't imagine going into a civilized nation and telling good people I'm from Texas.

Sure you can especially if it's a Southern Drawl.

Then there's unique regional ones like NYC/ Philadelphia/ Boston.

Bottom line is if you're on a contract.. there's protections for the employer to not renew the contract.. so people aren't really employees.. they're "affiliated contract partners" till they aren't.

Oh, I could probably tell a "Southern Drawl" isn't Canadian...and maybe recognise a few other specific US accents (like Bernie's...or at least, Larry David's version of Bernie), but if I heard a random Canadian I'd struggle to hear it as anything other than 'generic American'.

I mean, there's surely a reason why so many "American" actors turn out to actually be Canadians?

I'm terrible with accents though - have been known to confuse Americans with Australians, and mistook an Estonian for a Dutchman....

Yes, to his point the first question is ‘which American accent’. As you mention some like the southern accent are very easy to tell apart but others like some midwestern ones are very close and I probably couldn’t tell them apart. (To me midwesterners are just slightly more dickish Canadians anyway)

I assume you were thinking of the ‘default’ American and Canadian accents though (like newscasters) and while they are definitely a lot closer than British vs. American if you grew up here you could tell. I’m from Philly though so while I don’t have much of an accent it’s still noticeable.
