You need to uncheck the CPU option on that page to disable it.

It's the "USE CPU" portion at the top of the preferences page.

You can abort the tasks once you do that. Just hope one isn't a prime.

I say that last thing because during the Tour de Primes competition I aborted a bunch of GFN19 tasks to switch back to the faster GFN17 tasks and one of those tasks I aborted turned out to be a damn prime. You do so at your own risk. haha

Also you might as well join the team:
TeAm AnandTech

Also if you set the resource share to 0 like I suggested it wont download so many tasks at once.

Oh wow yeah that is wild. It shouldn't be downloading any of them. You definitely don't want them running while doing the GPU benchmarks. Not having a free core available to feed the GPU will slow the task down a bit. So suspending them if it keeps sending them to you is what I would do.

It may have not been killed when the settings where done ? or it did not read both local and remote configs ?

Finally working. Set it to run only on GPU in Advanced View.

Phew! That was really rude behavior from PG to overload my system with so many tasks. They need to fix that. The average user will never run the application again if he/she has no idea what's happening and why.

Oh wow! Pleasant surprise kinda (or maybe they do this on purpose to get the user hooked) but the estimated time went down from about 3 hours to almost 95 minutes in 7 minutes!

Is their estimation algo really so bad? Minutes equaling hours of work done?

That's normal. The ETA is decently accurate for PG though. Other BOINC projects not so much. This is why I was trying to get a config setup so it would only download 1 task at a time (or 2 if you got two GPUs going).

Once two tasks are done (one on each GPU), I suspend, abort and change to the next GFN?

Yes. Just make sure, as I said before, they're actually main tasks before switching. The proof tasks will take minutes to complete so they're pretty easy to spot.

Those are main tasks. Note the name on the far right. THere is no "c" in the name. The "c" will be before the last _ in the name. Those are all proof tasks.

genefer18_225316248_0 is a main task
genefer18_225316248c_0 is a proof task.

Also these times look a lot better for GFN18. Seems the accuracy for the Intel GPUs isn't as good as the Nvidia GPUs or something. No clue, but those times are about what you would expect from a decent GPU.

Click "update project" so it will report those completed tasks. Then you can move on to the GFN19.

While trying to get the hang of things, skipped GFN19 and 20 and got 21 started. Sith Spit! That's a GPU breaking project. It needed about 7 minutes just to complete 1% and GPUs were going upto 100%. Cancelled and doing GFN19. Will rest for a while. If I wake up and have time, will switch to GFN20 otherwise will need to do this at night when I'm home. Can't leave the server running unattended.

By the way, no one has found a GFN21 yet. I would be sick to my stomach if I aborted a GFN21 that turned out to be prime.
It seems like the kind of thing billionaires should be doing with their spare money. That's a lot of energy to burn for a prime that may or may not be found.

Yeah, most hobbies are better if you were a billionaire. Haha!

With that said, once you download 2 tasks for both of the GPUs you can set the project to "No new work" and it wont download anymore work once it finishes those. So you could leave the computer/server unattended overnight while you sleep and not worry about it constantly downloading new work throughout the night.

I think I'm gonna bow out of GFN21. It's too strenuous, generates a huge amount of heat and doing that for minimum 13 hours straight seems like a very bad idea. Intel ARC isn't capable of doing this workload in a power efficient manner unfortunately.

So what's the verdict? GFN18, GFN19 and GFN20 task performance put the ARC A770 near or below which Geforce GPU?

We're going to have to run some benchmarks ourselves on those specific b values for each one of the GFNs to get an accurate comparison of where it stands against other GPUs. This may take some time, but I'll get the results posted once we do.
