Some 'interesting' comments from Putin overnight;
  • "'Nazis' have great influence in Ukraine"
  • "Civil authorities in Ukraine are not legitimate, since there were no presidential elections Russia does not understand with whom to sign something in Ukraine, since tomorrow other leaders will come." [ wtaf !! ]
  • "There is reason to believe that the Russian Armed Forces will finish off the Ukrainian troops"
  • "Russia is ready to cooperate with Europe on the settlement of the Ukraine conflict, but they are 'trying to deceive us'."
  • "Trump sincerely seeks to end the Ukrainian conflict"
And then there is the new idea from Putin - "Putin has proposed putting Ukraine under a new temporary government, administered under the auspices of the U.N. and a number of countries, to hold new elections there."

Its clear that just like Zelenskyy is trying to wait out Trump, Putin is also trying to wait out Trump. Neither wants peace under the conditions that Trump (and increasingly the Europeans) are willing to entertain.

Putin wants Ukraine to hold elections so he can influence the election just like he did to help Trump win in the USA.

I think he wants elections to create chaos and uncertainty - after all Zelensky has been very effective it can only help him during the election process but quite frankly i think ukraine should counter that they will have election for a complete ceasefire for 60 days so they can hold elections

Should also require Russia to hold election overseen by the UN.

Zelensky sounds pretty frustrated with the increasing attacks on the civilian population. He’s pressing Trump to do something but if he doesn’t there is a non-zero chance he orders Kursk or Belgorod burned down by their own drones.

Having Ukrainian drones target every single human, vehicle, and building in ever expanding circles from the frontline should have always been Ukrainian policy.
They have the numbers for it now.

I think he was hopeful they could turn the Russian civilian population against Putin; some concern that attacks on them would make them more willing to fight.

Increasingly looks like Trump is getting aggravated with Putin's stalling. If they came into effect the biggest impacts would be for China, India, and Turkey. Of course China already faces a 25% tariff for exports to the US, layered on top it would hit 50%.

President Donald Trump said he was “very angry” and “pissed off” when Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized the credibility of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s leadership, adding that the comments were “not going in the right location.”

Agence France-Presse reported that Putin on Friday called for a transitional government to be put in place in Ukraine, which could effectively push out Zelenskyy.

“If Russia and I are unable to make a deal on stopping the bloodshed in Ukraine, and if I think it was Russia’s fault — which it might not be — but if I think it was Russia’s fault, I am going to put secondary tariffs on oil, on all oil coming out of Russia,” Trump said in an early-morning phone call with NBC News on Sunday.

Trump had made ending the war in Ukraine a top foreign policy promise on the campaign trail, leading to meetings between U.S., Ukrainian and Russian officials in the first few months of his second term. Last week, Russia and Ukraine agreed on a partial and limited ceasefire that would allow safe navigation in the Black Sea and halt attacks on each other’s energy facilities.

“There will be a 25% tariff on oil and other products sold in the United States, secondary tariffs,” Trump said, noting that the tariffs on Russia would come within a month without a ceasefire deal. Trump said Putin knows he is angry, but noted that he has “a very good relationship with him” and “the anger dissipates quickly ... if he does the right thing.”

How's this for a possible scenario: Putin wants all of Ukraine. Zelenskyy wants all of Ukraine back. Trump steps in between the two and wants the war to temporarily stop on Putin's terms so he can enjoy the best of both worlds whereby he can claim the title of "World's Best Deal Maker" and get Putin off his back about not doing enough to help him. Deal done, Putin rearms and restocks his meat locker, pulls off a false flag op and both he and Trump claims it's Zelenskyy that broke the truce so Trump can now pull all support from Ukraine. Game over unless Western Europe can fill up the gaping hole in Ukraine's war efforts that Putin ordered Trump to create.

Nope. Even with the interference, the Ukranians will realize who is screwing the elections.

Putin wants Ukraine to lose time in order to launch a desicive attack against Ukraine.

The issue? Putin won't allow Trump that. If neccesary will provoke chaos in the US while taking Europe by himself. It's madness? of course, but... this... is Putin!

Finland to withdraw from Ottawa Convention on landmines. Boost defense spending to 3% of GDP.

https://www.reuters.com/world/europ...dmines-treaty-prime-minister-says-2025-04-01/

NATO member Finland plans to quit a global convention banning anti-personnel landmines and boost defence spending to at least 3% of GDP by 2029 in response to the evolving military threat from Russia, the government said on Tuesday.
Poland and the Baltic countries of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania said last month they would withdraw from the 1997 Ottawa convention due to threats posed by neighbouring Russia.

Worse, wants to get distracted and pull a desicive attack on Kiev and expand the war to Moldova and Romania in possibly the same month

These morons really cannot conceive that their actions can have negative, for the US, consequences. You cannot tell the Euros to get fucked, tariff their exports, and generally be shitheads and not expect blowback.

US officials object to European push to buy weapons locally

U.S. officials have told European allies they want them to keep buying American-made arms, amid recent moves by the European Union to limit U.S. manufacturers' participation in weapons tenders, five sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.
The messages delivered by Washington in recent weeks come as the EU takes steps to boost Europe's weapons industry, while potentially limiting purchases of certain types of U.S. arms.

One northern European diplomat, who was not part of the Baltic meeting, said they had also been recently told by U.S. officials that any exclusion from EU weapons procurements would be seen as inappropriate.
Rubio plans to discuss expectations that EU countries keep buying U.S. weapons during his visit to Brussels this week, where he will attend the NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting, said a senior State Department official.

Still, several sources said the U.S. emphasis on the matter has intensified in recent weeks as the EU has moved more decisively to decouple its weapons procurement.
"They are upset about ReArm proposal and that the U.S. is excluded," said one senior European source.

They think other countries are like NPCs in video games, where you can shit all over them and they'll still buy your junk. Turns out real life has real consequences. FAFO.

One morning, when the United States woke from troubled dreams, it found itself transformed in its bed into a horrible vermin. It lay on its armour-like back, and if it lifted its head a little it could see its brown belly, slightly domed and divided by arches into stiff sections. The bedding was hardly able to cover it and seemed ready to slide off any moment. Its many legs, pitifully thin compared with the size of the rest of it, waved about helplessly as it looked. - Franz Kafka
