(I plan on buying a scientific calculator today, so please respond quickly)

This woman was using the calculator I was going to buy, but I noticed this calculator's layout has the fractions going sideways.

When my classmate let me use their scientific calculator the numbers were straight up and down. Which is what I want

Why graphing? A construction calc would be more applicable to what you're doing, right?
I didn't know construction calculators were a thing, but doing research it looks like it's just a calculator that's durable. I already have the calculator below, I got it from a store near me for $3.

Construction calculators have dedicated fraction functions, and they're more pared down, so there isn't a bunch of useless stuff. Depends on what you're doing though. Trig functions can be very useful in construction, and hardly anyone knows them. You can solve a lot of problems with triangles.

Edit: oh wait, the calculator I posted was just a case not a calculator.

I don't know why you'd need parentheses. Maybe there's some use I'm not familiar with. I don't do fractions either. I work in decimal feet, and convert any fractions to that cause I have some sense. It isn't ideal, but it'll do til we get a clue and go metric. Seems like the country's going the other way though. Probably won't need anything more than a knotted rope in 10-20 years.

Are you happy with foot being defined as the length of the king's schlong?

I'm my class there was a girl who had a calculator with the same symbol I highlighted and it was for fractions.

Im not going to get a construction calculator due to there not being any parentheses.

Im probably going to either get the $30 graphing calculator below or this $10 scientific calculator below.

You know function graphing has nothing to do with construction right?

Also the one I linked has fractions and parentheses.

My construction teacher also said a graphing calculator is unnecessary, I'm on my way to donate plasma, when I'm done donating I'm going to get the $10 scientific calculator I posted.

The one I linked has a digital notepad as well, so you write down the measurements there, then calculate how mach material you need. I thnik it is very suitable for construction.

There is a scientific version

Imagine that, OP asking a question and then ignoring useful recommendations, must be a day that ends in Y.

The multi line one I linked shows fractions the way you want. You could also just get the one your classmate has.

In a construction setting you won't use most of the buttons on it. Honestly, you won't have a use for any calculator in the first 2 years.

Once you get into layout you'll need the four basic math functions plus a square root button. If you dive deep in layout you'll need something that calculates rise and run and raked stud length. Though there are better ways of figuring out stud lengths.
