Before a foot of rain leads to a foot of grass, I figured I'd ride around the place knocking down what growth there was, mostly early spring weeds.

Get about half done .... mower deck belt snaps. It's probably 4 or 5 years old, so not surprising. Run it back up to the shed.

Fire up mower number 2 and go back at it. Get most of the rest of what I wanted to cut done and the mower stalls and dies. Try to crank it back up ... battery dead. have to go get the portable jump pack to get it running and back up to the shed. Punch out date on battery says October '19, so not too bad.

Not ready to put the belly deck on the tractor yet, so done mowing for now.

I ordered an Electric Car and it should be here in a little over 2 months. I contacted the electrician that I have used in the past. He moved his business to another county about 150 miles away. I can do some electrical work, but don't feel real comfortable running a 60 amp service to my garage.
Called an electrician that is highly recommended. Most people say the cost is between $800 and $1,700. That is when I found out that most people have their panel in or near their garage. The dude said the cost would be $3.500 to $4,000 to run from the panel. I said there was a circuit for my dryer that was right near the garage. He said great, that would only be $2,000. Got their written quote and the prices were $4,200 and $2,200. I said F that and will extend the dryer circuit. It is literally only 40' in an open garage and they way 2,200 for that? Nope,

There is a chance we may not get the car anyway with the tariff bullshit, so don't want to spend a bunch of money and then not get the car.

OK, you probably don't want to do that.

I understand the dryer doesn't run all of the time and the car doesn't charge all of the time, but you're really not supposed to have two higher current devices on the same circuit.

The election sign I put in my yard yesterday is already gone. Well that didn't last long lol. I'm not sure if it's someone that took it or just the wind. It's been super windy. The only snow tracks I see are my own from when I put it in.

Yikes. I would just do the work myself at that point. 8/3 is kinda expensive but not 2 grand expensive for 40'.

If it's going to be exposed you'll want to use armored though. I'd also be tempted to buy the 75m roll, it's way cheaper per meter. At least you'll have it for other projects.

Oh and this would be for 40amps, but that should be enough for an EV I would think?

It is only a 30 amp circuit so I would only be charging at 24 amps. Trying to do research on charging without the car is kind of interesting. Many people think that charging at this would be good enough and don't need to full 48 amps, it is all a matter of how often you charge and how fast you charge.

I am going to take the outlet out since I have a gas dryer

I lost the heel to my boot today, and I didn't notice til I got back to the office. Dumb thing is I'm pretty sure I saw it stuck in the mud today, thought "Huh... a boot heel", and kept on going. My foot felt weird, but I thought it was all the heavy clay mud caked on my boots. I'm going back tomorrow, and I'll try to remember where I saw it. Got a new pair of boots out of the closet to wear tomorrow. Pretty sure I can fix the old ones, and I already have a spare heel, but it would be nice to find the one I lost.

That wiki is pretty interesting, especially the demographics. There's so few people there, the numbers are easy to imagine. As of 2010, there were 9 black people, 2 hispanic, and 1 mixed race. The one indian either left or died since the 2000 census :^D

Population seems to be crashing. There were 440 people in 2010, and 343 in 2020.

I guess you'd have to double check with the manufacturer, the big thing is having enough power to run the battery heater in winter to bring the battery up to safe charging temp so that takes power in addition to having some left over to charge. 30 amps at 240v is 5760w so quite a large amount of power, I would think it should be fine, but I'd double check.

But since you're not using the dryer at all, then I would just swap the breaker for a 60 amp one in that case and run #4 wire. For wire that thick I would do armored teck, I don't even know if you can get that in romex. If I'm not mistaken, for an EV charger you don't need neutral but I would run one anyway to be safe, so get something like 4/3 teck cable. I don't think hardware stores will sell that so need to go to an electrical distributor.

I always thought it would be cool to live in a super small town like that, would have a really cool tight knit feel to it and probably super easy going. Probably super cheap living too, I can't imagine the taxes would be very high in a place with only a few 100 people. Ideally it would just be an unorganized township at that point really.

I paid $70 more for a 200W solar panel cause I couldn't make up my mind yesterday. Now, I kind of wish I bought the power bank also, but I think I'll hold off on that, and see what comes up in the coming months.

you mean tariffs will make them cheaper?

That's a factor. I don't *need* a power bank atm, but it might be useful when the war starts. Not sure how to parse the metric fuckton of bullshit going on now, and don't know exactly what I need.

Crazy how cheap solar panels have gotten in general though. Like check out this deal, about $233 for a 570w module. If you buy by the pallet. It's on sale mind you so that's cheaper than regular. There's also a local place here that sells them so depending on the price here I'd probably do that so I'm not dealing with shipping.

I already have some solar panels that I did not install yet so will start with those. Got 4 230w and 4 340w or something like that, I forget the exact wattage. One set will upgrade my system here at home and other set will be for my off grid property. Hoping to start on at least a shed this year, and I'll setup some telemetry, security cameras etc so I can check in on the property remotely. Will also be fun to see what kind of wildlife I see. I do have a trail cam there but it's not a remote one. Hopefully it's still there...

I've been dealing with fluid in my left ear for almost 2 weeks now. I'm on my 2nd type of antibiotics and the pharmacist said I probably won't feel better from it until about wednesday of next week, if it works. If not, I'll probably have to call in the big guns and go to an ENT. Super annoying.

Found my bootheel today, but still in the fucking mud. These are the boots I selected to put into service...

Look to be NOS from 1963. I picked them for the relatively smooth tread so they wouldn't pickup as much mud. Probably worked, but it doesn't feel like it :^/
