The rumor about the Astro Bot console bundle was true.... presumably the rumor about the bundle being $399/$449 true too. So you get the game and the price cut too.

Sony will give the PS5 Pro crisper graphics — by backporting FSR 4

Sony says it’s working on a “reimplementation” of AMD’s FSR 4 upscaler that will make PS5 Pro games look crisper.
by Sean Hollister
Mar 10, 2025, 10:39 PM GMT+5:30

starting in 2026, the company hopes to imbue games with a new AI upscaling formula that’ll make them even crisper, based on the AMD FSR 4 technique that’s now shipping with AMD’s new RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT graphics cards and appears to be competitive against Nvidia’s latest DLSS as well.
“Our target is to have something very similar to FSR 4’s upscaler available on PS5 Pro for 2026 titles as the next evolution of PSSR,” PlayStation lead architect Mark Cerny tells Digital Foundry.

Finally, playing Bloodborne! Got it and the DLC on sale!

Great game and enjoying it throughly. Love the left handed gun parrying mechanic, and, as with all such games, the parrying just comes very easily and intuitively for me.

Kind'a got my rhythm thrown when I hit the Nightmare Frontier. This area is just horrible--classic Miyazaki! Used my all my reserve blood vials in this section, and actually had to farm to buy replacements.

I have Bloodborne but could never get into it. It's a really hard game for me. I don't know why, as I am a pro at Eldenring and Darksouls III.

There's an adjustment to the timing similar to when I had gone from ER to LOP, I think. For Bloodborne, since I already acclimated to LOP, the learning curve for the timing was pretty quick. Still, I had to experiment and died quite a bit during those early hours and relied mostly on vital attacks (parries) to get me through.

However, there are some sections, like the Nightmare Frontier, which are brutally difficult especially since the parry mechanic has been more or less neutralized.

Only a little more than half way through and really enjoying it. Now, I can see why they say LOP is the most similar to a Bloodborne remake we have today.

Bloodborne is like Sekiro in that there is only one way to play it: in Bloodborne's case, learn to parry or die. In Sekiro's learn to deflect and parry or die. Elden Ring allows much more diversity in how you play.

Parry is certainly my favored style and the one that comes most easily for me. I find parrying easier than dodging in ER too. Actually, I don't think I could defeat a crucible knight without parrying.

After the big spider (Rom?) and Moon turned a little orange, I ran into this hunter with blood katanas, I think Eileen's quest. This guy was tough and without parries, I have no idea how one would beat him. His gun takes almost half my health and his katana kill me in two chops.

So far, I don't find it particularly hard except for the last boss and the Nightmare area. Generally, if I can parry, then it's pretty smooth. It's much rougher when I can't, like the big spider.

After not having played any souls like games for a while I'm looking forward to Khazan. Can't believe people are still obsessed with Bloodborne lol. I dunno what it is but I played it on PS3 I just don't understand why it doesn't grab me like some of the other titles like nioh/sekiro and other soil type games.

In Elden Ring I have to dual wield so that kills parry for me. Love the blood build attacks too much, especially committing seppuku with a blood uchigatana before every fight.

Yeah, in ER, bleed is probably my favorite status effect.

I enjoyed playing with the blood build Nagakiba so much, I keep going back to it. Of course, I've played with dual wielding, but my dodging skills, or lack thereof, gets me in trouble with certain enemies. However, as you've said, it's so much fun dual wielding curved swords (especially the bandit one!), it's just a blast.

Regarding Bloodborne, I may be the only here who hasn't played it until now? I was very late to the party and my first game in 10 - 15 years was ER, and only because of the pandemic. That game literally blew my mind on how far we've progressed from the days when I was a gamer. Everyone shares with me that Sekiro is the best. Bloodborne is the best. The original DS is the best. I'm really having a blast playing them all.

Though, if I had redo, I'd wish Sekiro had been my first FromSoft game. What an experience that would've been to learn from that game, rather than already being somewhat "skilled" at these types of games when I had gotten to it.

Funny you say that, as I had to unlearn Dark Souls to get anywhere in Sekiro. Was playing it like Dark Souls until I got to one boss, forget the name but the guy at the top of a temple, that I flat out could not do shit to trying to play like a Souls game. Had to just make a new character, restart the game, and this time work on polishing my swordfighting to advance. What's funny is Sekiro will still have the occasional boss where the deflect & parry don't work well and you have to fight them like a Souls boss.

Without a doubt, Sekiro is a masterpiece.

The sword fighting mechanics and sound is, in my view, the best of any game I've ever played. It's just sublime. When I had finally gotten to it after ER/DLC and LOP, Sekiro's parrying was pretty easy for me after a hour or two. Once I acclimated to the timing, it was pretty smooth.

I suppose, I had nothing to unlearn since I've never been good at dodging. I'm amazed at how skilled and adept some players are at rolling attacks, something I don't think I could ever match even without hours upon hours of practice.

Top of the hill, Genichiro? Oh, Demon of Hatred is a pure ole fashioned Souls fight where I relied on dodging more so than parrying.

Damn how do you remember those names? Those are precisely the two bosses I was thinking of, although I think there is another boss in Sekiro that is a straight Souls style fight if I remember right: another demon or something who I think you fight maybe at the end of a canyon, my memory is hazy though.

But yeah Dark Souls and Elden Ring I use a lot of dodging. Demon's Souls I use a shield a lot since there are so many ranged attacks used against you. Bloodborne parry everything. Sekiro deflect and parry everything. Really gotta play Dark Souls 3, as I always hear it plays a lot like Bloodborne. Never do tank builds in any of them though. In Dark Souls I just use robes instead of armor to keep my dodge fast. Then Bloodborne armor is just flat out useless, though it cracks me up the dogdoo shield you can pick up at the beginning of the game which does nothing to slow enemy attacks if you think you can play Dark Souls style when you pick it up lol.

Played the demo for Khazan first beserker on PC and I'll be buying it on release. It is decent and the cell shaded graphics have a nice touch actually. Really enjoyed the combat in the demo and it's been a while since Iast played a souls like game.

Looks really interesting and I'm tempted to pick it up too. After your initial 5-10 hrs, would you mind giving us your quick take on the game? Thanks!

Will do, looks like a lot of nice quality of life features for a souls game; transmog at any point, you can trade in your unused old gear for experience points, you can easily farm bosses for gear without having to traverse a whole level to get to the boss.

Theres certain movesets and skills per weapon so you could really come up with a unique build doing exactly what you want if you know what you're doing.

I'll probably use one of Fightingcowboy's recommended builds. I enjoyed using the spear in the demo.

Really enjoying Khazan the first beserker. I'm only on the second chapter since I spent so many hours farming the soul eater armor set.

The weapons all have passive and active skills and I'm currently using dual blades. Not a huge expert on them but I put some points into stamina recovery and stamina based passive dual blade skills and it's helping me get used to them.

The game is very parry centric and I would say the parry window depends on the enemy but it's not crazy tight which is good.

I like how easy it is to farm bosses without needing to run through a whole level.

If you need souls for XP you can trade your old gear in for them at any point which is awesome.

The play style depends on your weapon of choice and skills. The weapons skills can be reset at any time too. So far my favorite are spear and dual blades.

Well worth it if you enjoy souls type games. If you enjoyed lies of P, you will enjoy this as it offers a lot more flexibility.

Thanks for the quick take! Think I'll pick it up and it sounds like the sort of game I really enjoy, especially since Lies of P is one of my favorite games to have played.

By the way, notice the game is also on sale on the PS5. Any specific reason to play it PC? Better graphics, performance and potential modding? I ask because I've just tried ER on PS5 and notice it's incredibly smooth, and appears to be a better experience than it had been PC.

Primary difference on PC is i can max the graphics at 4k and use dlss. Its optimized nicely for PC and I was able to get it for $38 with a coupon code I used a week ago. I'm pretty much locked in at 117 fps since that's what I lock in on Nvidia control panel and then just make sure vsync is off and no frame lock in game.

Finally got the soul eater armor set. Nice size of stamina recovery with this set and you also get a pretty sweet skill with the armor that resets an enemies stun lock once you deplete their stamina.

I'm on the viper boss now which is tough! Spear makes quick work of his first phase with moonlight stance. Had to swap from from dual blades. I'm level 45 with 30 points in stamina and even perfect parrying most of his moves eats your stamina with dual blades. Spear lets you stunlock easier.

Thinking of selling my XBox Series X Halo Limited Edition and picking up a standard PS5, or maybe a Pro depending how much I get. Looks like I could at least break even getting a regular PS5. Halo was a dud, the primary reason I went Series X over PS5 in the first place. Most of my friends use PS5 and we could play coop games together. Plus it's just easier to get into voice chat parties and the such.

I read the new Xbox is slated for 2027 and will be more PC-like, even running steam. Would you make the move? I can't really see too many downsides but figured I'd ask.

How much GP Core (or whatever MS calls it now) left do you have?

Do keep in mind that the discounted PS5 bundle that's going on right now is a while supplies last type deal. I am pretty sure.
