Time to sink some ships and destroy some ports for good.

I'd like to see a system where every time Russia screws with a undersea cable or commits an act of sabotage on Europe, they lose X number of ships from their shadow fleet. Seizure is preferable to sinking, but whatever.

Hang the bear up and drain it. Russian economy has proven rugged, but what's coming is inevitable at this rate. We should hasten it whenever possible, the sooner Russia can't conduct war the sooner Ukrainians stop being killed, tortured, raped or kidnapped.

Some good news from Germany.

IRIS-T systems plus >300 missiles, some Patriot ammo and 120 MANPADS. That will save lives right there.

They need to be given a huge chunk of frozen Russian money and devote all of it to producing nothing but Long Neptune, Peklo and Seth. Give every Russian military or oil related target in range the same treatment Russia gives Ukrainian population centers.

The Europeans won't give the frozen funds to Ukraine. That option has already been rejected for now.

So far, the EU has confined itself to going after the interest generated on Russian assets held via Euroclear.

I know @biostud has shared some Euro Index funds that might be a good place to stash money while the US passes the second Trump term through it's system (and maybe even longer than that still).

Similarly, is anyone aware of a fund that would broadly cover Ukraine/Ukrainian markets (doesn't have to be exclusive to Ukraine, probably better that it isn't in fact).

While its looking rough as far as Ukraine pushing Russia entirely out of their territory, its also looking rough for Russia completely conquering Ukraine too.

I suspect with the collapse of oil prices/Trump & Putin distracted/renewed European focus on Ukraine/collapse of American markets etc. it might be a good time to move a small but significant chunk of change over to a market with the potential for explosive growth as soon as they get some god damn peace.

Also potentially a good way to independently fund Ukraine with US dollars as the US itself pulls away.

More insanity by the thugs known as Trump Administration; remember these assholes have done nothing to support Ukraine or Ukraine interest and have already indicated going forward they have no interest in helping Ukraine.

Now it's just blatant nonsense to delay and give Putin time to shore up his next offensive.

If they can extort Ukraine along the way, sure.

Pussy ass traitors.

If I'm the Ukrainians I keep stretching things out till Trump bumbles into a hot war somewhere else and forgets you exist. Meanwhile work hard with the Euros for domestic arms production capacity to bring ever more hurt upon the assaulting Russians.

That's probably the wisest path, since these two dictators fell madly in love.

Yeah its clear that the current administration seemingly doesn't want a quick peace.

Which makes me wonder... who told OPEC to start the pumps? It has crashed the oil price. Sure, that would help Trump with his supporters, but it sure hurts Russia as well. Their budget requires $69/bbl and its reportedly less than $50/bbl from one of the Russian ports.

Domestic production in Ukraine is going well. In some respects they are surpassing all of NATO.
OTOH, it's obviously NATO funded. Would never be able to fund it solo.
Though we also wouldn't want this resource and production capability to fall into Russian hands. Orcs need to keep dying until they surrender.

Ukraine tripled its defense production in 2024 and now surpassing all Western nations combined in the output of towed and self-propelled artillery systems.
The total value of domestically produced military equipment rose from $3 billion in 2022 to $20 billion in 2024.
Ukraine also increased its output of mortar and artillery shells by 2.4 times compared to the previous year.

Russia, one of the few nations the US will listen to these days.

Trump envoy's embrace of Russian demands worries Republicans, U.S. allies

So long as Trump is taking all the heat from his illegitimate unconstitutional law breaking romp those Republican Congress critters have no reason to poke Trump in the eye and rein him in. The gerrymandered lock they rigged up in their home states along with the near criminal voter suppression tactics and their effective disinformation campaign gives them the confidence that they can just sit back and give Trump all the rope he needs to hang himself. This while they're counting on their MAGAts to keep that rope from doing it's job and keeping their other party members caged, domesticated and duty bound to their felonious autocrat.

All I've been reading and hearing from Trump's supporters in our local social media are pleas to give Trump time to work his magic (that is needlessly raising the cost of living and alienating our former allies), to compromise (with an administration that absolutely won't do that) and trust Trump (?!!??) that he knows what he's doing (!!??!!). Talk about living in a twisted bassackward fantasy universe. WTF happened to these people that they can actually believe the blatant bullshit emanating from their restrictive sources of conservative propaganda ? It's like they've all acquired a case of Stockholm for their despotic captor.

Our domestic production will suffer also if it gets much lower.

Well, it might turn out that even Putin can't navigate the tsunami of chaos stupidity that is the second Trump administration.

60 Minutes interview of Zelensky tonight:

Watched this interview last night, I can see why Trump was upset. Doesn't show him in a very good light at all. Zelensky is in a very difficult position right now trying to keep his country a sovereign country while dealing with a very aggressive neighbor who is bent on genocide against Ukraine.

Trump is always upset. He was upset with what? He watched the interview and reacted to it? How?
