Hmm...the Yamaha RX-496 doesn't have DTS, but the RX-V496 does. Doh. How much is the V496 btw? Also, what's the diff bewteen the V496 and HTR5440?? They seem like they're the same.

does dolby digital == DTS?? The sony 400D has dolby digital...if use the optical out to a DTS receiver, is that ok? If not, what DVD player should I get that has DTS??

Ya know what....unless several ppl scream "Noooooo! The Energy Take5.2s and Yamaha RX-V496 are a TOTAL waste of your money! Hide the women and children!" er something like that, I'll just stick with that. It may be true Paradigm/Klipsch/M&K/whatever may be better, but for me it's all the same...

sweet, I love 5 min replies :) ....yeah, adding /bin/false to shells works. I was a bit confused because I didn't have to do that on a previous install. Oh well, it's all good now. Thanks!

Mandrake 8 install: can't read the damn CD

If I use boot floppies I still need to access the CD to get the packages, right? My laptop can't recognize the CD at all at any time....DOH

My laptop, which has LM7.2 (installed with isos), can't read the LM8.0 isos correctly. Sometimes it can read it (on boot), sometimes it tries to read it and gives up. When it does read it....part of the initialization fails (uncompress of second stage RAM or something). Also, it can't detect...

mandrake 8.0 freezes on install at first step

similar problem here....it detects my CDROM (TEAC 24x on a Thinkpad laptop)fine, but doesn't detect the CD at all sometimes and when it does, it doesn't install properly (can't uncompress 2nd stage something)....even then it can't detect packages correctly I haven't tried LM8 on my desktop yet...

Son of a- I just tried my phone again and it 'magically' works a few hours after the hours for weekend minutes are gone. It's a conspiracy I tell you :) I'll try to raise hell if this happens again this weekend. Poop.

Sprint PCS: troubles getting deposit back??

I just got PCS and the sales rep said I would get my $125 deposit back in 1 yr @6%. That's fine....except it's not printed anywhere in the receipts or agreement. I was wondering where it says I will get my deposit back in 1 yr. I don't want to be there in 1 yr and have them say 'Oh, we meant 2...

I didn't find any places for optional arguements in linuxconf for LM7.2 and I already tried editing ifup. I tried editing it at two places, but I'm nor sure where exactly I can specify a timeout value.

I want to install RedHat 7 on my Highpoint UDMA66 controller, but Linux doesn't see the drive!

The link I mentioned only talks about getting ata66 to work by adding append="udma=1" in /etc/lilo.conf under the linux image To get the controller to work at all....you have to check your distro and kernel version (it needs 2.3+) I'm not an expert at getting controller cards to work...

Need Help. WIN2K Pro won't boot anymore.

I just did a repair yesterday after screwing up my 98/W2K dual boot by messing with my bios....I did a boot from the W2K CD (in your BIOS you can change the boot device to be CDROM)...I selected repair (R i think) and in the subsequent menu I let W2K check everything except the system files...
