    It says 1050 b/c the multiplier went back to defaults. Get into the bios and change the cpu setting back to 1400 mhz/133fsb.

    You say the drive is an old one. Is its partition set to active? If the drive is not set up with an active partition it might interfere less. Put the drive on ide channel 2 (secondary) and set it up as a slave drive.

    The INTEL tualatin 512k cache 1.266 are GREAT. They do twice the work of a p4 xeon 1.7 ghz proc in benchmarks like rc5. Good tualatin system would be rock solid. A dual mp amd system at 1.2 would be just as good but i prefer intels.

    Your in for a world of hurt if you try the 1.4s. Unsupported for dual ops by AMD and not built for dual ops. The 1.2s are your best bet for stability and proper function.

    Win2k will work but win98se will probably allow you to use most of your old equipment with fewer headaches (compatability). And you said you already had win98se, use it first and decide if you want something more. Avoid WinME like the plague.
