6 in 1 Card Reader Problem

What does it mean when it says a card reader is capable as a flash reader. btw, the defective reader is generic 1.1 USB, I use win98 and the drivers are installed by CD. I'll just return it for another and hope for the best. :)

6 in 1 Card Reader Problem

Bought a 6in1 reader with a 128 SM card. After installing the reader which comes up as F drive just like the SM reader it's replacing. It reads CF cards but doesn't read the SM card. Comes up as "F drive not accessable". Any ideas? It's a cheap little unit. I need to try a smaller SM card but...

Nero InCD stopped working??????

I use a Phillips 3200 CDRW and a Sony 10x CDRW with Win98, plenty of DDR ram. I've used Nero and Nero InCD up until now with no problems. I've used Memorex CDRW's with no trouble until now. A few days ago I noticed the InCD arrow in the taskbar was read instead of green. Anyway, after installing...

CD-ROM trouble after flashing Bios

I haven't tried setup defaults. Secondary channel is on. No on the cable select. Yes it is weird. I'll try another cable before I can the CDR. However I'm stumped about the HD failure with the CDR as a slave. hmmmmmmm..... :(

I flashed an MSI K7T Pro 2-A mobo to Ver.3 to up the multiplier and all went well. For some reason the CD-R won't work. I had it connected as secondary master. After clearing the bios still no CDR. I tried unplugging the ribbon and reattaching it the CDR and after rebooting it was OK. Another...

I determined the bios I have as W6330MS Ver. 2. However I can't find version 2 in the bios's listed with MSI. Does it have to be Ver. 2 or can it be a different version as long as it's the 6330 board? :)

I may try it. However I've never flashed a bios before. I find the online bios feature of the KT3 board much easier. I'll keep you posted.

MSI K7T and Duron 1.3 question

My backup system has a Msi K7T mobo. The multiplier only goes to 12.5. I'm wondering if I can unlock a Duron 1.3 and run it at 100x12.5 (1.25). Figured I'd ask to save me the hassle. The mobo's fsb increments are only 100-132 because the chipset is KT133 not KT133a. What do you think? habba8

Intel Combo Question; Which to buy?

Which Intel combo is the latest "bang for the buck"? I've used amd for a while now and looking for a change. Would like around a 2.0ghz, use the 2100 DDR that I have, be able to OC in the bios obviously with a price range of $200-225. thanks habba8

Update: I installed AGV. It crashed twice while scanning. Once getting the message "illegal operation" and the second one getting the usual blue screen "fatal exception" or something. any more suggestions?

Thank, Mem. The online test came up "page not found". However I did get the free AGV and serial no. Reformat as you said is a last resort. Obviously. It's just that I'm so used to mcaffee, which won't install. Then again, I don't like having no virus protection. I'll try it. Thanks for the free...

I use Win98, fast system Trouble is every now and then, (always when I need a full display) the browser only displays text with empty pictures. I think I've tried everything, reinstall, check settings etc. btw, the problem was also there when I used IE 5 also. Ideas anyone? habba8

Clearing bios on a Compaq

Let's see, the Nic card is D-link 530TX+, OS is Win98. Where would I disable the plug and play on the Nic card? Also, I have the restore disk that I haven't gottin around to yet (been busy). I'll try restoring all the drivers first and see what that does. Once I get the Nic card to work I'm done...

To Format or not to Format update

Well I put the faulty HD in my other system and installed Win98 then put it back in the Compaq. So it's up and running. It took some fiddling to get the D drive to work. Now for some reason neither of the two PCI slots won't recognize the Nic card. Need to clear the Bios I think....not sure how...

I haven't tried anything else. The system only has a Nic card. This project has been a pain. I'd rather not try anything else in the slots yet. Read more about the pain HERE I'm wondering if taking the battery out of the mobo will clear it? lmk what you think habba8

I'm fixing a friend's Presario 5120 system. Had to format and reinstall. I wanted to clear the bios but can't seem to find the jumper. Can I clear it by taking the battery out for a few seconds. The reason is, it has two PCI slots and I've tried both and neither one recognizes the Nic card. I...
