Athlon & MSI K7 Master vs. Athlon 4 & nForce in Quake III

no difference IMHO, the GeForce3 is the reason the FPS is high, not the processor, so the faster memory bandwith and proccesor may not matter, but I am sure that there would be some improvement.

can anyone explain the DDR ram settings?

Same here PAbster. I bought one strick for $56 about two weeks ago, PC2100 CL2.5 that runs fine up to 158 at 8882222 (although I hear that 8882622 is better) at standard voltage (2.5) I never bother with CL2.5, it doesn't let me get any higher, and I dont bother to run the system oast 158...

the yamaha 16x has burnproof, and an 8 MB buffer, and is around 110 dollars. Seems like good deal, but plextors are supposed to be great.

which is DDR chipset is better. amd760 or kt266?

the nForce and SiS chipsets are supposed to make better use of DDR ram, but probably not much difference using T-birds. PAlominos would help probably. Also, if you haven't already ordered the CPU, get yourself a 1.2 instead, they are the same price. Even better, get the 1.33 for another 30...

the gladiator is fine... with a better fan. My friend has the Taisol, great sink, but I would buy the SK6 if I wanted a new HS, read the reviews! I will use the superorb on the other computer, meanwhile I may have to consider the delta...Doh!

Bump and new problem. I am using the sound editor that came with adaptec 5 platinum, and I only get mono. Actually it mixes the two RCA channels down to one mono (left) channel. Is this unavoidable or is there some other problem?

OK, I hooked up a tape deck and used the conversion cables to go from RCA to Mini, then started up a tape but I have no idea how to record stuff now. Do I need a special program? Is the cable only to output to RCA? How do you all do this, without special sound cards?

My just inserted Tbird...

How are you setting the system bus to 133? Jumper I would hope, because otherwise you are trying to get all of your peripherals to run at 133/3 = 44 which is a bit above whjat they will take, usually. Maybe this has nothing to do with anything if you did change it with the jumpers.

just curious, did you change power supplies? That is the only possible reason short of improper installation. Maybe you atached LED's incorrectly to the mobo, but that probably wouldn't result in that kind of error. Re-set the motherboard to the case, maybe the some lead is grounded poorly...

Max speed air cooled?

Hey, I would go higher but my GA-7DXR came with a problem so I had to RMA, the problem kept me from setting VCore, but the overclock is testament to how awesome the AXIA's are! The temps are Bios and after flasking AMD optimized, the only true 100% test that I know. All at 1.75 standard...

How do I install Blue Orb with Tbird 1.4?

yes, the blue orb is only for northbridges, videocards or other semi-hot IC's around your system. It is not designed at all to cool something as hot as the CPU!

Does the speed of the proccesor matter that much when looking at power supplies? They draw only so much wattage, right? How much more can a 1.6 draw over a 1? Most people have 50W to spare in their 400W system anyway, right?

SocketA DDR MOBO that supports more than 4 IDE Drive?

GA-7DXR allows you to use the RAID channels as ATA100 ports with one or two drives each. Basically, I oculd have 4 drives on the RAID and some stand alone IDE drives on the other. Drives love their own channel....

EPOX or Iwill

The Iwill KK266 is rock solid for all athlons and durons. Especially running Win2K you will never ever see a true crash. It overclocks well too, not like the Epox and Gigabytre boards, but well. Epox's EP-8K7A is supposed to be great(DDR) for overclocking as well.
