I put in a new ssd and fresh install, psu is an 850w one, and it crashes only with 2 memory sticks, with one its fine, doubt its the psu.
Anyway turns out i purchased the 5600x on july 9th 2021 so it has a few more days of warranty left, doing the rma with amd now :)
I'm thinking cpu, since its been stable as soon as i took out the memory stick i'm thinking imc, if it was the psu it would keep crashing. I have a psu tester coming in but doubt that will tell me much, don't think any of the voltages are off.
I'll see if i can borrow a 3600x from a friend.
The...
A little update, even with new memory the crashes came back. I then changed the ssd and a fresh install and the crashes stopped for a while but eventually came back.
They got so bad that i couldn't even get into windows, i changed the motherboard and that fixed the crashes for a while, but they...
These are the only reasonably priced 2x16gb sticks i could find locally and in stock, most of the g.skill sets were 200cad.

Honestly having trouble finding qvl approved memory, i found a few 2x16gb ones but they're double even triple the price of regular 3200mhz 2x16gb sticks, only half way down the list but still, maybe i'll have to look for 4x8gb or something.
Btw is that memtest error due to the qvl compatibility...
Got this within the first minute... how bad can it be? lol
I'll run the whole test overnight
I looked for CMK32GX4M2B3200C16 on the qvl https://www.asus.com/motherboards-components/motherboards/tuf-gaming/tuf-gaming-x570-plus-wi-fi/helpdesk_qvl/?model2Name=TUF-GAMING-X570-PLUS-WI-FI and could...
amd 5600x
asus x570 tuf gaming wifi
32gb vengence 3200 ddr4
evga 3080
850w psu
xpg s70 2tb ssd
only the mobo/memory stayed the same with this build, it still crashed with the 3600 and other gpu/psu/ssd's
That's what i did originally when i upgraded, not sure i want to do that now since i have...
I went from a 2500k to ryzen 3600(then 5600x) 4 years ago and basically every week or two windows crashed. Sometimes i get a blue screen out of nowhere, sometimes apps stop responding and the pc just locked up, sometimes watching videos or youtube it locks up. One day i had 3 crashes right after...
The player is my Sony 900h tv, when I stream from my 5600x system it's fine but the old 2500k just struggles. Anyway I already got the case, space for 16 drives 😁
Nevermind picked up the meshify xl with its 16 hdd capacity, the transcoding issue comes back after 10 minutes of watching movies and basically saturates the cpu and freezes the movie 🤦🏼♂️
Diy nas done, can't believe 10 bay boxes cost $1200
Talk about getting off topic, i settled on the 802 case, really like the built in fan controller.
I think i figured out the transcoding issue, so i'll be able to dump all the hdds in the basement, nas can go fcuk itself lol
I already bought the 360 rad so thats why i needed the case, deal was too good to pass up.
I do have a spare computer in the basement where I could dump all the hard drives but I notice when I stream through jellyfin it transcodes every movie, the computer in the basement is just a 2500k that probably can't pull that off. So ya maybe when i figure that out I can hide all the hdds in...
Yup its very handy.
Ok the meshify 2 is out, the additional hd storage pullout cage completely blocks gpu's larger than 11.5" and my 3080 is 12", unless i go with the meshify 2 xl. The 5000d is also out since it just supports two 3.5" hdd's.
The 802 and p500a seem to have these cages that you...
Looking for cases with space to mount a 360mm ran on the top panel, so far i found the meshify 2,
silent base 802, corsair 5000d and phanteks eclipse p500a. Any other out there i should be looking at? Any preferences?
Found a half assed solution https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/move-mouse/9nq4ql59xlbf#activetab=pivot:regionofsystemrequirementstab
It moves the mouse before the process starts
Nope no mining with this old gpu lol, task manager shows 25% gpu usage by shell infrastructure host and its constantly copying rather than decoding. Started a scan now for malware.
Good idea, look at the memory usage its pegged full. And as soon as i move the mouse it drops to almost nothing, and i'm not even doing or watching anything. Where do i disable video decoding?
I tried resmon and it shows smhost.exe as the culprit not sihost, but the description is correct as...
Can't remove windows defender, i disabled real time protection but the shell infrastructure process still popped up. I ran sfc and dism and it found some issues and fixed them but the sihost issue still persists.
Ok so after 90 seconds of not moving the mouse the Antimalware Service Executable process hits 10% cpu usage and then disappears after a few seconds and Shell Infrastructure Host process goes up to 20% cpu usage and 3-4 gigs of memory usage, moving the mouse makes it disappear. This happens with...
Strange issues i'm having for the last month or so, when watching youtube or a movie through vlc player the video starts to stutter after a few minutes. If i move the mouse or pause the video it fixes itself but a few minutes later the issue comes back. Any thoughts? 5600x + r9 380 gpu + win10...
I wouldn't think either but it did, only reason i'm using the lower m.2 slot is because the mobo has a heatsink for the ssd and it drops the temps around 10c.
Just got a pcie gen 4 ssd and noticed in the top slot i get 7.4gb/sec read and 6.6gb/sec writes while in the lower slot i get 6.6gb/sec read and only 3.2gb/sec write. Is this because the top slot gets its pcie lanes from the cpu and the bottom slot from the chipset? Its an asus x570 mobo.
