ez. stop buying stuff you do not need with money you do not have to impress people who do not care about you.
you quickly realize you have plenty of money left over for whatever gpu you want.
usually buy 4 gpu at a time and pay in full when the cc bills comes due. vega is next up.
all these need more vram scenarios.
at least include game setting and average/min fps.
so one can differentiate between actual gameplay scenarios or imaginary benchmarking scenarios.
your post #19 you stated your single fury at 4k could barely maintain average 60fps (forget whatever min fps is) at high setting (forget ultra setting) without any aa.
no point in further jacking up vram by cranking up texture to ultra or cranking up aa or both. smh.
will give it another poke. then you are on your own after this.
also need to stop confusing vram required and vram cache.
as for vram required. rest assure that when you take into consideration playable enjoyable gameplay (aka fps). you will not bust 4gb vram required on 4k on any...
same explanation for both.
another VRAM thread with the same folks regurgitating the same false information like gospel. in example - 1060 3gb is not enough vram for 1080p. smh.
first is stop confusing FPS limitation with VRAM limitation.
today's gaming scenario and non benchmark scenario...
stop losing sleep over a non issue.
given the current games. a single furyx over 4k. you will never ever saturate 4gb in a "real" gaming scenario. even furyx x2 you will be fine.
otoh. if all you care about is benchmarking to see how high u can jack up vram. even a 12gb titan x pascal...
the fps question is about fluidity. fluidity comes from frame times.
"IF" frame time is excellent. 60fps is fluid. no need for higher fps.
OTOH "if" frame times is a mess. even 144fps is a stutter fest.
triple dell u3014. quad 290x can barely maintain 60fps+. dips are hitting the low 50's. this is with 2x msaa. 4x msaa bumps into the 4gb vram wall.
as soon as vega10 come out. will get 4 of those. no gp102. sli bridge needs to die.
this issue has to do with how windows (and it's program developers) manages memory. they all write programs to "utilize" as little physical memory as possible, while "storing" everything else in virtual memory on turtle media.
only way to alleviate this lag is to force virtual memory into...
there is no memory leak. battlefield 4 just loves virtual memory.
btw. this machine with 64gb of physical memory does sports quad gpu (290x x4) on triple monitor (7680x1600). if resolution has anything to do with this excessive virtual memory usage.
just for contrast. on another machine...
by default. photoshop and bf4 and other programs are too stupid to fully utilize all available physical memory. and insists on paging to no ends. those instances where it has to page from the ssd is getting old quick.
thanks for sharing that photoshop does allow user to allocate physical...
hate virtual memory with a passion. it is slow and pathetic. okay with that said and done.
there are some programs out there (like photoshop and bf4) that demands virtual memory. since there is no way around this pathetic ness. is there? anyway thinking of making a ram drive. and then...
you missing the point again.
nightmare texture are not across 100% of the game.
those particular screenshots (you took) is the same across all settings. that particular spot simply does not have the nightmare texture.
that is why frames did not tank.
nightmare texture are only available where...
nightmare texture does increase texture quality. of course a quality monitor capable of delivering that difference does help differentiate.
point is. most simply cannot tell the difference beyond high texture. rather that be their eyes or their hardware or both. hence why console is so...
this Fury X memory management is as piss poor as 970's memory management. swapping texture to slower memory is never a good thing. thanks for clearing it up.
given that game setting. looks like it wants ~4.9GB. sadly frame are hovering at a ~40fps.
if you got time. run that demo again...
these results are nothing more than useless benchmarks. any frame time above 17ms is diminished real world gaming enjoyment.
reduce game setting to maintain frame time 17ms or less and 2gb vram will be sufficient (at least for 1080p).
with zero competition. nvidia is milking this to the max. who could blame nvidia. capitalism at its finest.
truly. for anyone who can afford a top tier gpu (1080). they will have no problem upgrading to titan xp need be. and especially the 1080ti.
if it weren't for that dinosaur sli brige...
gpu is simply a tool needed to complete a task. (still cannot understand how some continue to get excited over 3dmark scores.)
for those of us that has a sense of reality. we choose a resolution. and we choose a game. lastly we choose a game setting. that is the overall task. then we...
blower is an awesome design. in order for blower to work as design. must have positive case air flow. when that is address upfront. blower is superior to axial fan. heat is push out of the case vs recirculating heat.
sadly most do not understand that basic concept. most simply throw in a...
290x is a 300w gpu. with a custom fan profile. the reference cooler can stand on its own.
1080 is a 180w gpu. absolutely ZERO reason why it should be throttling. POS or not.
if this is any indication. 1080ti/full pascal will definitely need underwater.
1080 is simply repeating 290x fiasco.
only way to fix this is to jack up the reference blower to a custom fan profile or go aftermarket cooling or go water cooling.
want to go out on a limb and say that all the benchmarks are wrong due to the fact that those benchmarks are cold starts...
No is incorrect. vram is mirror. not stacked.
what you essentially end up with is - 6950 x2 with 1GB of usable vram.
in your dialect. it is "13900 1GB."
as for the clocks. bystander36 is correct. the faster gpu does not actually down clock. instead the faster gpu will reduce...
when you crossfire a 6950 w/ 1gb with a 6970 w/ 2gb.
the 6790 w/ 2gb essentially become a 6950 w/ 1gb
the faster gpu slow down to match the slower gpu.
you now u have 6950 x2.
the larger vram reduce down to match the lower vram.
you now have 1gb vram.
note. vram does not stack. instead it...
using doom4 (gpu limited game) and aots (cpu limited game) for your assessment is a failed, although your assessment is correct.
obviously DX12 offers new way of rendering. sadly not every game utilize these new rendering method(s). as such. game performance will suffers when not pair with...
never heard of the branding fee. even if there was. that fee would be minimal. definitely not a deal breaker.
the main reason why such motherboard does not support sli is due to the 8x restriction set by nvidia. another stupid nvidia move. it has been proven over and over that 4x is more...
those are NOT 3-way and 4-way bridges.
those are 2-way bridges for 1/4 slots configuration and for 1/5 slots configuration.
