Anyone know specificially what time on Feb 7th these cards will go on sale? I want to grab one before the stock gets cleared out and they put them on ebay for 50% more than msrp.... Thanks!
Yep. CRU was the cause. Thanks for your help. I put it back to 40 to 60hz freesync range and it was fine. I then played with it more and determined that 33-60hz range in CRU worked fine but pushing it to 32-60hz range caused all sorts of issues.
This is a bit off topic however, I have a question I wanted to know if anyone else has encountered. I have the Vega FE and an LG 32UD59-B monitor. A 4k Freesync monitor with 40-60hz Freesync range that I have expanded to 32-60hz Freesync range with CRU. Driver version 18.2.1. I am having...
I am going to agree with the above. While 4ghz base would be nice, i think it will be 3.9/4.3 with 4.4 XFR. Then i have to decide if i want to upgrade my 1800X to a 2800X :-)
Wow. I am super glad I pulled the trigger on that Vega FE card for $750. I have been keeping an eye on 'now in stock' and regular RX Vega cards are selling out in minutes at $1,100+. Crazy. FE on Newegg is back to $950 last time I checked. Been very happy with the FE so far. A little louder...
Also, I just sold my old Sapphire R9 Fury Nitro on Ebay for just under $500. ~$200 more than I paid for it. So netting everything out I only paid ~$50 more for the Vega FE than I would have paid for the Vega RX 64 at their actual MSRP of $499.
Crazy times we live in. I have a Ryzen system and have always been an AMD fan, but I struggled with paying $750 for the Vega FE for a while. I was pretty much driven to it since I have a freesync monitor and nothing comparable is offered with Gsync. Otherwise I would have gotten a 1080ti in a...
So quick question to the Vega FE owners. I noticed that AMD released the new 18.1.1 driver. Do we have to wait for AMD to update the Pro driver before we can update Vega FE? Or can we install 18.1.1? If we can't, will the AMD software notify me when there is a new Pro driver version I can...
And I should probably add that I need to do more fan noise testing because I am not sure that the FE card is generating all the fan noise. I have an older (5+ years?) 650watt PSU that might be getting pretty stressed when I ran some benchmarks the other night. So the fan on that might be adding...
Yeah, the fan on the FE edition is louder than I had hoped but softer than I expected. I haven't had a chance to play with Wattman yet, I will this weekend. I am pretty sure I will be able to get things where I will be able to live with everything.
I KNEW that was going to happen. When I finally caved and bought the FE I knew that shortly after some stock of 3rd party Vega RX 64 cards were going to come in stock... Oh well. So far the FE is working fine. Need to spend some real time with it this weekend.
Thanks Estarkey7. I installed the FE card last night and followed your instructions and the driver install went smoothly. Ran a couple quick benchmarks and played a little Witcher 3 and all seemed well. Need to start tweaking game settings and profiles this weekend when I have more time with the...
Quite the list! I will keep that in mind. I am currently using a R9 Fury card so hopefully the upgrade will go smoothly. I will make sure to clean all the old drivers. Where can I find the AMD driver uninstaller utility? Thanks!
Well I finally bit the bullet and ordered the Frontier Edition from newegg as well. Hopefully gaming mode of the driver will go smoothly as it can't be returned... Will report back as well how things go.
Also, what do you think about the Vega Frontier Edition so far? I have had it in my cart on Newegg several times but haven't pulled the trigger. I am especially interested in the noise level of the fan? I prefer a quieter system so I don't like a jet engine of a fan going under full load while...
You looking for IPS or VA monitors? I am pretty sure that LG makes some IPS 1440p high refresh monitors. Also the AOC you mentioned I think has pretty decent reviews.
Honestly, at this point. I am considering just pulling the trigger on the Vega FE air and then getting Alphacool's aftermarket AIO water cooler for it. It will pretty much come out to be the same price as the liquid Vega's on eBay...
hah! Just looked at your Sig nOOky and realized we had the same monitor. I also don't need super high frame rates. I would be fine with Vega 64 but I am kicking myself that I didn't pull the trigger a couple months ago when Vega was in stock for actual MSRP. But like I said earlier I was...
I have the LG 32UD59-B and I really love it. The freesync range is 40-60hz but i used the CRU to expand it to 34-62 :-) No LFC but a Vega 64 card should be able to keep in that range with most of the detail turned up.
Most of those upcoming 4K/HDR/120Hz displays seem to be 27" and IPS...
Yeah i saw that. For that price i would rather just get the FE and get the extra 8gigs of vram. Still hoping to get 3rd party designed card like the Asus Strixx for the quieter cooling...
Nice. Newegg had an XFX air and liquid cooled Vega 64 in stock for about 20 minutes yesterday. Overpriced but less than eBay. I had it in my cart but didn't pull the trigger fast enough as I was doing a bit more research... It sold out before I could order. Oh well. Still thinking of...
Yeah. I read that AMD pulled the plug on reference models in order to focus fully on providing chips for the AIB models. There must be a significant lag because there is zero stock out there anywhere...
Well I was ready to pull the trigger but then I noticed that newegg had a replacement only return policy on the frontier edition card. i would rather pay a restocking fee and have the ability to return it if I don't like the card. So I will hold off and wait a while longer to see if some of the...
Ugghhh... Thanks for the heads up! I am looking at it my cart as we speak... how is the noise level on that card? Is it bearable? I was holding out for the 3rd party cards with better cooling... Does the Frontier Edition have better cooling than the RX Vega 64s? Thanks.
Still no stock of Vega 64 at newegg or MC or amazon. Amazon might have a couple for insane markup. same on ebay. Is AMD just having issues manufacturing them? I put a notification on newegg to let me know when the asus strixx vega 64 was in stock. i got the email at 1:04pm while i was away...
I have been in the market for a Vega 64 for months... I should have pulled the trigger a month ago when newegg had a handful of cards actually at MSRP. But I was hoping the 3rd party designed cards would be arriving soon. Still nothing... I don't understand it. I know the miners are buying...
If you are going with Vega you should at least game 1440p. I would recommend one of the upcoming Samsung Freesync 2 monitors. It comes in both 27" and 32" Quantum Dot and VA

you should probably also add which monitors actually have full array local dimming backlight and which ones do not. I believe all the Gsync monitors do but the Samsung Freesync 2 do not...
Does anyone have this monitor yet? I'm dying for any kind of review. The user Thirty IR on YouTube has it but I KY has put up a game stream with out any details...

i7 3770k at stock. Going to go to an 1800x in another month after some more motherboards get released. I do all my gaming at 1440p so thr 1800x will be more than fine.
Question. On that Freesync demo, what is the difference between having Vsync on or off? I don't notice a difference either way. I have 40fps up to 60fps as options either way. I set it for FPS sweep and I can toggle vsync on and off and I can't see a difference. Thanks
Ok. So last night i lowered the freesync range using CRU to 40. After i did that the freesync demo gave me the options for 45fps and 50fps as well. 45fps and 50fps also appeared to work correctly in the demo. I am going to do some gaming tonight to test it further. If all goes well i will...
