    I am actually running a Samsung UN40JU6700 40" curved 4K from about 5 years ago as a monitor on my desktop, love its bright beautiful images.

    When I said the AU8000 is on the low end, I did not mean it as a put down in any way. I love Samsung TV's and own 3 of their 4k's and none of them are high end. They all look amazing.

    Looking for a long 1/8 to 1/4 cable that is durable where the plugs join the cable as get frequently bent there.

    Use some heat shrink tubing to reinforce the problem area, slide it on and use a heat gun to shrink it down to a snug size.

    DDR5 has been available at Best Buy online fairly often at about $300-310 for 32GB. I know it does not perform any or much better than DDR4 at this time but I wanted the latest technology going forward.

    Thanks for the replies, I am getting up there in years and I am wanting to build a "final" high-end gaming capable machine with 12th gen I7 or 9, DDR 5 and hopefully an RTX 3080Ti (I've been on EVGA's waiting list since OCT 2020}. I'll be too old for gaming after this one is obsolete.

    It has been about 4 years since I put together a new system and I know everything I want in it except for the SSD choice. I thought that DRAM on a drive was a necessity, but now I am wondering if it is and which drives have it. Any thoughts or experience on the matter?

    Cool old speaker! I always heard the term "doped cloth" for the type of surround that is on this speaker, it is very durable.

    Put your name on the notification list at EVGA's website for the 2080 Ti Black edition at $999, I snagged one last week and it should be just as good or better than the card you listed plus being cheaper. EVGA is one of the best vendors for Nvidia cards.

    I would suggest a small integrated amp or some basic amps have volume controls only, something like Audiosource, Carver, etc. They are quite a bit smaller than a receiver. I have an older Carver that has very cool twin analog volume meters on the front, fun to watch. Craigslist is your friend...

    I just purchased an EVGA 1080TI SC2 from BestBuy and when I opened the shipping carton was surprised to see that the retail box was not shrink wrapped, but it did have sealing tape on each end of the box. Anyone else seen this on EVGA video cards?

    Just finished a build with the gaming 7 /6700k combo and so far it has been solid, but I have not yet tested any overclocking features. One of the almost useless features is the lighted I/O panel on back, but it sure looks pretty.

    Many, if not most of the 780TI's were factory overclocked that makes a performance difference from the vanilla 980TI's. A quick check of prices shows the R290 at around $290, not $200.

    I went with a 32" Acer IPS 4K and am loving it, however I would not go with less than a 32 incher for 4K. Fonts are usually just too tiny in native resolutions.

    I have an Acer 32" 4K and the fonts and icons are really small at default settings, I'd hate to see how small they would be on a 27 or 28 inch.

    I think it means that it will output 4k from the integrated graphics on some Intel processors. IIRC 24 frames per sec? Certainly no gaming.
