problem with sound in Windows98

Ok, this problem has been resolved, I finally removed the Multimedia entry from the windows setup section of add/remove programs and then reinstalled it. Now I have sound and video with this software.

problem with sound in Windows98

This is a dual boot system with 98se and 2k, the software runs fine in 2k but no sound in 98se. I have the latest drivers from creative labs site. The sound card is a SB Live! value. Any ideas? I am open to all suggestions on this.

I installed the LearnKey win2k pro software and am having trouble running this. First it wouldn't play at all, all I would get would be a error messege saying "mmsystem281 this file could not be played, check filename or install a driver that supports this type of file" I have been able to get...

how to flash a motherboard that wont boot?

before you do anything, make sure your power supply is sufficient to handle this MB and processor. You may have to just upgrade the power supply to make it work.

Thanks ojai, I was able to connect to the redirected site in a round about way. By holding my mouse pointer over the hyperlink and copying down the URL for the redirect and manually typing it in.

hhmmm... The Sonic Blue handles the WMA format, the YEPP doesn't. Seems I have heard that WMA is the future. If so, the YEPP could become obsolete.

Are the PCI slots assigned particular IRQ numbers? If so what are the designations? I have this mother board set up with a Sound Blaster PCI64 sound card and a Netgear NIC, they both seem to want to use IRQ 9. This seems to work fine, except I am trying to upgrade from the PCI64 to the SB Live...

I've had this same problem using both version 1003 and version 1006 of the BIOS, maybe it is something to do with Windows 98se. I am not overclocking the processor. This is a fresh build using a Maxtor ata100 HD at 7200rpm, and 128MB of pc133 RAM. Dave

Need help installing Maxtor HD

Same here, I tried over and ober again to get the MaxBlast disk to work. I think there is a bad batch of these going around. Mine came with the 30 gig. ata100 7200 rpm drive. Good Luck! Dave
