If the server was fried i would use Acronis Universal restore and recover to a different machine. It seems to work great from my experience.
Any reason why tape drives should still be used in this day and age? We don''t have a lot of data and storage capacity is cheap.
What is the best practice when it comes to backup up a server that is a domain controller and a file server for a small office with 20 workstations. Should I even run a file server on a domain controller or is it okay for an office this size?
I have separate partitions and sometimes drives for...
I actually has this exact problem 2 weeks ago. In most cases i can log into IPMI remotely and silence the beep but i know what you're talking about. I usually do both email alerts and a beep.
Comfort in an office takes precedence over reliability. i cannot have loud 50mm fans in redundant power supplies.this is a tiny office. The hard drives are not old they will be new. We are purchasing new workstations that come with mechanical 500GB desktop drives. I will take those drives and...
Right, I forgot about how slow updates can be. The motherboards supports NVMe RAID so i guess i'll get that for the boot drive. What I really want is an audible alert when the disks go bad. That's very important.
When i say reliable i mean in terms of bug. If i decide to switch motherboards will I have an issue migrating with software RAID? What about rebuilds. I've heard nightmare can happen with software and cheap controllers. I was thinking abut a boot drive but I would want that to be on RAID as well...
I’m building a server for a small law firm with 3 workstations. Its just a basic file server for Word and Excel files, QuickBooks and some other software that the law firm uses. This specific application does not demand performance but reliability, redundancy, and low-noise is a must. I’ve built...

I was using Acronis and I accidentally delete the APFS partition on a MacBook Air and created an NTFS partition in its place. I did not delete the EFI partition before it. Then I deleted the NTFS partition and tried using several different software to get back the APFS partition but they all...
We have a company with 20 workstations in NY and 6 in a remote location in Europe. The server in NY is the domain controller, NVR for the security cameras, file server and stores profiles and user data for our roaming profiles. Currently the office in Europe is connected to our router through a...
Hi,
I am looking to beef up security on an office network. Aside from the obvious: physical security, limiting user privileges using Active Directory, running a firewall that does stateful packet inspection and running anti-virus software; I would like to prevent users from copying a file to...
We have a small office with one server and one client that connects to the servers database for the Sage 300 accounting software. The server is also being used as a workstation for the Sage 300 software. I want the person who uses the server was a workstation to be able to connect to the server...
I've read up on water-cooling systems and it seems like those systems with lots of radiator are running their GPUs at 40C overclocked. I'm interested if those GPUs can run them at stable temps like 70c if the subtract radiators. Again, I'm only looking to cool my system to the lowest stable temp...
The Fractal comes with lots of padding and I prefer the minimalist aesthetics. I think in a worse case scenario I'll get an external radiator if the setup does not work. Remember I'm not trying to get the lowest temp possible; just a temp low enough for my cards to overclock. From what I...
How is radiator size measured? This is what my case supports according to the specs:
◦Front – 240mm radiator when HDD cages are removed or repositioned
◦Top – 240 and 280mm when using slim radiators
◦Bottom – 120mm radiators
◦Rear – 120 and 140mm...
I live in an apartment where I get residential electricity rates ($0.27kWh.) I know that may people will argue against mining Litecoin and Dogecoin because it will take me at least 3 years to get a return on my investment at current coin prices and difficulty. This is true and I may never even...
I'll be 31 next month. I would never order felony amounts. Ever thought of that? They need approval from the District attorney to even investigate me.
"The man" has nothing to do with Bitcoins and there is nothing to shut down. You are saying this because you do not understand how they work...
Again, you missed what I said. I don't buy drugs. My account does. That is the cornerstone of SilkRoad. On amazon you need an e-mail and credit card so if you buy drugs on Amazon you are fucked. My account on Amazon is linked to my physical location, IP and identity. On SilkRoad it is different...
I never said they are at their values because of the drug trade. Think of the drug trade as a safety net for cryptocurrency that will keep going up as the drug trade becomes stronger and stronger and more people gain access to the internet to make use of it. The cryptocurrency economy is not...
I'm not denying this. This is a gabble and the wishful thinking is there.
Absolutely not. But I have credit and its not a total waste. The hardware has a resale value. I would say I'm risking about $2000 because I can always resell the hardware. If I start mining today I would be at a small...
I feel really stupid even arguing about this because you do not understand how SilkRoad works and cannot follow simple logic ...but I have some free time now so I'll go ahead anyway and give it one last try: I do not buy drugs on SilkRoad. My account, which is not linked to me in any way what so...
...nice, attacking my "mind" as opposed to refuting what I said. You're a very serious person to have a discussion with. You must be really fucking smart, please get back to the rocket science you were doing and don't let the posts of someone with poorly functioning inner mind workings distract you.
Uhhm, no. I don't have to convince anyone that it was an accident they have to convince a jury that it was intentional.
That guy in the video who is being arrested did the right thing (assuming that much cocaine isn't going to kill him) he will be charged with obstruction of justice for...
Spoken by someone who has no idea what he's talking about. If I sell my Bitcoins now I walk away with a profit. That means that I took my money and turned it into more money. How exactly am I being scammed?
First of all, you obviously don't even know what a pyramid scheme is. If you did you...
So what you are saying is that if I don't like you I can send 5 kilograms of cocaine to your address and then call the cops to tip them off that you have drugs coming in and you will spend the next 30 years in jail?
SSSnail, you are missing the point that there ARE actual people who got rich quick by doing absolutely nothing and there is such a thing as easy money. If my parents are rich and buy me a building for my birthday then I have easy money. I collect rent and don't have to work a day in my life...

That is very possible. This guy found a $9 Million hard drive
