honestly, i'm sick of all the SBLives, Audigys, and Audigy2s... My Aureal Vortex 2 kicks all their asses. The only reason I upgraded was so I could upgrade to WinXP from 98, cause the vortex 2 doesnt work with XP

yea, but thats the thing, before with my vortex 2, it did not change the wave volume another thing, i've noticed the vortex 2 sound quality to be far superior to the audigy 2... my mp3s seem too muddy or just lower quality now, kinda like it was playing from my car's stereo system or my CD...

Don't get Win XP if you have an Aureal sound card

I did that and it's fine except that the thumbnail still doesn't show up on the left like it used to. It shows up when I highlight a html file or a bitmap, but no longer for GIFs, and JPEGs(jpg, jpeg, jpa, jfif, jpa) and even when i choose to open it with Explorer, then go to Folder Options...

I mentioned my case cooling. CPU fan/heatsink is the Antec Jet Cool, and I just put some Arctic Silver 3 on it, and cleaned it of all the dirt that was in it. I got a 300 watt pwoer supply with a fan behind it blowing air out of the case. I got a regular case fan in the front of my computer...

Alright to use 70% Ethyl Alcohol in removing thermad pad.

so if your thermal pad looks like mine and has hardened into plastic, alcohol won't do much. just going to have to scrub and scrape it really hard with a putty knife or razor. But that's only for the heatsink. if you do that to the CPU it'll damage it

hey, i just removed a thermal pad (or what was left of it) from my tbird 1.4 and my Antec jet Cool heatsink. the part where the CPU core touched the heatsink, the thermal pad was nearly completely gone, except for a few thin remnants. and around that area it had turned to HARD yellow plastic...
