Actually, from his mugshot, he looks like one of those folks posting in the 'highly technical' forum, but got bored with all the geekness and tried to do something fun for a change :Q :Q
In the Hibernate mode, the computer shuts off everything...you could even unplug your PC (to ensure that there's no power drawn) and move it around.. There's zero consumption.
In the S3 mode (Suspend to RAM), power is supplied from the SMPS to the RAM, etc. The SMPS supplies around 3A on the...
Actually Gigabyte manufactures a mITX motherboard with an onboard 800Mhz VIA C3...It has onboard video/audio/LAN....Add a 256MB or 512MB DDR stick to that, a cheap 7200rpm HDD, etc and slap the entire thing in a mATX case and you've got a PC that's ridiculuously cheap and runs very very cool...
If what you mostly do is print in black & white, then a laser printer really suits your needs...
Advantages of a laser:
-High duty cycle
-High toner capacity
-Economical when printing black and white
-excellent text output even on ordinary paper, unlike inkjets that have minor smudging...
CWS variants are one of the toughest and most harmful spyware out there...I think you should add CWShredder to that list of apps for cleaning spyware.....
This is the funniest stuff I've read in a long time...Just imagine sanding your monitor :D
What next? Are you going to dip it in your bath tub to make it clean???
Umm..although you need WinXP SP1, the motherboard's bios should support 48bit LBA...you'd probably need a bios upgrade if it doesn't. ATA-133 isn't necessary for HDD's higher than 137GB. It's release just happened to coincide with the need for 48bit LBA for HDD's greater than 137GB
You could do this using pivot reports. Search the net for some good documentation on using pivot tables and pivot reports....Alternatively MS Excel's help is quite useful, especially if you're using Excel 2003
mechBgon, a small suggestion: your article mentions that users should loop the HSF cable to reduce EMI. AMD suggests to tie it in a serpentine loop or to route the extra cabling directly thru the HSF fins to reduce EMI. Here's what their document #26003A says:
The large loop to the power...
Excellent and detailed stuff :). Keep up the good work and do update it regularly.
a suggestion though: you could explain a few basic CMOS setup options, like loading the setup defaults, detecting IDE drives, etc. Many n00bs get stuck in the bios too :)
And why did you use a Maxtor instead of...
Heh, looks like a tie...both have nearly the same number of votes...
However for me, bios flashing is definitely more stressful....there are a lot more "external" factors that can fail on you, like power going off, the operating system crashing (if your'e doing a live-update thru windows)...
To each his own....If you like your Cheetah 100 feet away from you, I cannot help you man!!!! :D
You really need to appreciate and marvel at the technology used behind the Barracuda IV HDD. Even today nearly 2 and a half years after it was originally launched, It's still probably the quietest...
Actually I was going to post a thread asking the same question "what is the best way to clean a monitor" I think there should be a FAQ on this... (Where's Andy??) :)
Personally, I use a damp cloth followed by a dry and soft cloth.
IMHO, they're a little more than glorified IDE busmaster drivers :) I've yet to see some emperical evidence that they do something wonderful.
These drivers started to appear during the peak competition between VIA and Intel when both companies offered busmaster drivers for Win9x claiming...
I agree.... I think Sysadmin should also be concerned about the ability to read it back easily... What's the use of successfully burning the data correctly if it cannot be read back on most other drives, or it loses integrity after a few months of storage?
On the software side, I'd recommend...
NFS4, I was wondering why did you prefer the FIC board over the Gigabyte one? Gigabyte IMHO builds excellent boards and their boards are often used in the AMD reference systems. Also, apparently the anti-VIA trolls have got excited like vultures over a rotting carcas :D. I'm sure Pabster shall...
Go for the P4 2.53. The SMP performance of dual PIIIs doesn't scale very well with multiple processors under the AGTL+ bus. Also since the Asus board has the Promise RAID controller, you may go in for a cheap IDE RAID setup. You'll definitely get much better performance for the Accounting...
