Folks...I have Win 7 installed on my internal Sata HD and everything is running fine. however, I just ordered a FASTER WD Sata internal drive that I can simply plug into my case's front hot swappable Sata bay.
I want to try 2 things if possible:
1- I want to make a 1:1 copy of my main HD...
So, if I understand you correctly, then the drive speed using the hot swap front ports should be every bit as fast as the internal drive capabilities? (assuming I used the same drives in either configuration)
Folks...got a qick question,
I have an Intel i7860 CPU with an IHC5 chipset ( I think) Its a prebuilt Gateway FX system with Win 7. It also comes with 2 front Hot Swappable Sata drive bays.
My question is, if I installed Win 7 on another HD and booted this OS from the hot swappable...
Alkemyst...thanks for that Cacls command tip.....however I think I may have stumbled upon something for future use that might be more related to what I was looking for with the Services Policies and resetting them all ....I think

Guys...thank you all for your help especially the last few who assisted...you guys are very bright individuals but I think Nottiham is right, that sfc/ scan suggestion is a great one , which I've already tried, is good but not appropriate for my situation. It just replaces incorrect versions...

I switched the icon from the default Local Administrator to my Local desktop and now I get the following error:
The Computer Browser service depends on the Workstation service which failed to start because of the following error:
This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object.
Folks I am getting consistent EVENT ERRORS in the Administrative Event Logs every few minutes that is having issues with my credentials in the LOG ON tabs of a few WIndows 7 Services:
Here's one of them
The Network List Service service depends on the Network Location Awareness service which...
Corky, thanks for that suggestion....Unfortunately, Win 7 seemed to wipe out any of the older Restore Points after I upgraded to WIndows 7 SP1 which I recently downloaded 3 days ago. Every restore point prior to that is gone.
I would have loved to do that
Mnewsham....Im not giving attitude...
Id like to avoid a reformat because I have a few years worth of data, apps, games, installed on the PC that I would simply prefer to keep intact if possible
thanks
Well G...THAT was helpful
Can anyone simply tell me the quickest and easiest way to perhaps reset all my settings to the day I first installed Windows without actually losing all my installed software, if that is possible?
Id like to just reset all the services, and credentials back to their...
FOlks I posted this in General but perhaps it belongs here so I apologize
Is there a simple way to correct or reset default settings for the LOG ON credentials in the LOG ON tab for each of the SERVICES in Windows 7? In an effort to get them to match with other services and fix several...
Folks, I just recovered my machine after 4 days of cleaning out some malware and finally got everything back to normal however, I still noticed some errors in my event viewer that were writing logs almost every second about incorrect permissions
Here's one of them:
The Network List Service...
Well guys let me ask you this then....the intent of all this for me is to simply recover my old Outlook mailbox. It was configured to connect to a POP3 server. Wouldnt this just require me to find the .PST files from the old hard drive and copy them over to Win7 and open them with Win7...
Folks...I was wondering if I took a Hardrive out of a Computer that just died on me and installed the drive into a fully functioning PC system, Would it boot up correctly....or automatically detect different drivers and make the necessary adjustments??
Its a Hardrive with Windows XP on it and...
Actually, I want to add an update to my situation for clarification
I didnt use Microsoft Exchange Server as I was on a POP Account. From what I understand, then my inbox, calenders and such would not be saved to an .OST file correct?
They would be saved to a .PST file?.....If that is the...
Folks, is it possible to copy or remap my Outlook in Windows 7 to open up my old Windows XP OST files from my previously installed Outlook?
I had upgraded to WIndows 7 and backed up my old data including my old Outlook files .pst and .ost files.
I was able to copy over the old .pst files...
guys I forgot to post this a month ago...but I actually went ahead and bought the Gateway system and I am VERY HAPPY...However one question I have is, they all advertise that the i7-can hit 3.43ghz with an auto Turbo Boost feature....unfortunately, I am unable to get the cpu to turbo past...
I guess the thing im most concerned about is the lack of color gradation and black levels that the LCD will bring in comparison to the CRTs which gives me very smooth color blending and great levels of black without being overly crushed
what do u guys think?
Im not sure what you call the web sites addresses that you drag onto the toolbar above that associate with an icon....what are these called?
I have alot of those too that I want to copy over to my new machine as well...is it possible?
Folks, can someone simply tell me if its possible to easily transfer Bookmarks and Favorites I dragged onto the toolbar in Firefox to another PC I just freshly installed WIN 7 and Firefox on?
I have an old XP with Firefox Browser that i would like to copy all these things to the Win 7 and...
FOlks, I just got an amazing new prebuilt system (yes...finally, I actually bought a prebuilt one instead of building it myself) I got the new GATEWAY FX-6831 for 1299- and its a wonderfully designed system. i870 with 8GB RAM and Radeon 5850 with 1.5 TB HD
So to my point....I have just took...
I would agree...but the only problem that doesnt make sense is that I was able to set all the different refresh rates with XP installed on my other system with this same monitor and BNC cable plugged in also to a DVI adapter on another Radeon card (AGP HD3850)
A BNC cable provides seperate connections to the RED BLUE and GREEN signals to the monitor....its supposed to provide a better clear picture and be superior to a VGA cable
Im not sure I understand your statement
im not sure what you mean by use a VGA cable?........I have a VGA cable plugged into the DVI adapter that came with the Video card (Radeon 5850) There is no VGA port.
Wait a minute...when you say VGA cable, are you reffering to the connection side on the actual monitor??.....Im actually using...
guys...ive done the unhide not supported refresh rates....Only 60hz appears either way. nothing else is listed
I'm using the latest catalyst and Ive used the detect display option....still stays at 60hz

Folks I just got a new Gateway FX Gaming system all pimped out with a Radeon 5850 Video card and Windows 7 64bit and I cannot seem to get the darn Catalyst Control Panel or Win 7 Display Properties to find anything higher than 60hz for my old Viewsonic 21" CRT monitor....and its driving me nuts...
yes alyarb is right...I have to pay cash. No online ordering, no credit card charges
btw guys, will these 64bit systems run slower or faster than the native 32bit systems of yesterday?.....All I hear is how 64bit isnt optimized or games dont utilize it....blah blah blah
Ok actually the difference for the $250 is that the Gateway comes with a 750w PSU, a 1.5 TB HD and the ATI 5850 video
The Dell comes with 1TB HD, ATI 5770 video, wireless NIC B/G/N and I dunno about the PSU
So does that now make it more tough to decide?
Im still leaning toward the DELL...
Guys...help me out here. I just found this Gateway system on their website and it is sold at a local J&R Electronics near me ....my question is, in comparison to the DELL machine fro $1049 I posted earlier, is it worth the $1299 price for the ATI 5850 video?....This seems to be the only...
guys...thanks for all the info. I want to just clarify, I am pretty well aware that you are gonna be able to build a uber kick ass system that will always be better than any prebuilt commercial store.
My main goal here is to drop down some quick cash at retail chain and get the 'best'...
ok ok guys I get it....I have no chance of overclocking...I'll accept that :)
Now, in regards to perhaps buying this DELL now with the 5770 and enjoying the huge performance boost I'll see in all my current games (and new ones) in comparison to what I am USED to with my P4 2.8ghz system and...
