SSD on older MAC question

Hi I'm running older G5 PPC Quad system ,,, am now interested in SSD. would like opinions on going with excelsior card if that is even possible, if not then SSD is second choice for boot drive. Any opinions on best models and experiences, success stories, whatever,,, appreciated...

Nvidia 8800 for the mac??

So this all leads me to ask is if it is how is it possible to flash a GPU,that is something I've never done ?? Oh,, silly me,, I'd imagine it's just a driver update,, yes ????

Hey All I've been looking at the possibility of a MAC lately and trying to piece one together. My question is wether the Nvidia 8800GT is different for the MAC as opposed to the PC? My impression, thus far, is that the MAC version is built without SLI capability as compared to PC...

Thank you very much guys it's very reassuring to hear from you that the 64 bit version is ok I had tried the trail way back when vista first came out and was not very enthusiastic about 64 nor 32 bit versions gonna have to consider the move have a good night joe

Hello to all At the risk that this question has been addressed somewhere else,,, Has anyone here done a side by side test of the new Mac Pro against a comparable Intel system. I have to admit that I've been real close to pushing the BUY button more than once but I have concerns.

I'm OK with going it. 10 to 15% is what I understand is a safe boost with stock cooling. Ultimately OC will vary in results due to the bin sort process. I'm not afraid of it,, what are you leaning towards?

Compaq x1000 question on CPU upgrade

Hey All !! I'm thinking of adding some muscle to my x1000 centrino...Need your opinion.. I'm looking at a new CPU 1.7 gig with 2mgb cache, am now at 1.3 with 512 of RAM... ?? Will this new CPU give me the boost I'm looking for ?? Should I go with 2700 DDR ?? Or am should i just get a faster...

Thnx Nitro,, that driver issue certainly is a pain in the COJONE's for sure. so I've been looking for user groups, that's gonna B the best bet all around,, I'm pretty busy and reading of volumes of material will take too long, and not having a live body to answer questions makes me LOCO...

Yeah,,, I saw this coming .. And your right SU it's hard asking the right questions and it will undoubtedly prompt twice as many questions to get to the right answer but I thank you all for the input. So far I have tried Knoppix, RH, Fedora, and even sent away for Debian Knoppix runs kinda OK...

OK so I boot up and I have just a very basic OS, and I'm at the coomand line,,, 1 what commands do I use to look in my CD rom 2 '' '' do I use to install stuff like KDE or GNOME GUIs I try doing it myself from help but all that gives is stipped down syntax rules
