Yea, had some other people suggest the timings so I played with them, no dice.
I've pretty much given up hope on it and decided to just use a windows based overclocker (nTune or ClockGen) so I reset with the jumper agian and let it boot. I reset and went to bios with the intention of...
Never mind that. Checked out the memory controller by downclocking it to 200 mhz. With optimized default it runs at 333mhz (even though I have all DDR400 ram).
Also stalls when I downclock the CPU to 800 mhz.
I was thinking burn out also so I tested each dimm and they came up clean. Gave some errors on test 5 when together.
I guess the memory controller on the processor is starting to burn out. Still I wouldn't think just a 1 mhz change would cause it to lock up like it is.
I have a Chaintech VNF3-250 and a Athlon64 754 3000+. It has run at around 2.5 ghz for years with no issues till last week.
I booted it up for the day and it acted like it was refusing to POST. Fearing the worse I reset the BIOs with the jumper and booted up like a charm. So I put my OC...
I like how the kids in the promo flash movie thing are pointing at Kinsey, a movie about the Kinsey Report (explored human sexuality) during the 50s or 60s.
Amazing game. Just got done playing for a few hours. Game was is easly best looking on the market with HDR (turned everything to high and made a server). For online play I turned everything to low (have a 9700pro, my x800xt arrives in 2 days) and it still looked great and got a smooth 65 FPS...
Just want to say thanks for the guide. Couldn't figure out why I couldn't get over 2.1 on my CG 754 3000+. Turns out it is my memory. Got it running at 2.5 stable now on a 6/5 ra. Ohtio. Problem now is my HTT dosen't want to go over 250. It's a chaintech VNF-3 mobo. Oh well, can't...

To see and example of the embedded javascript, check out the pornzilla site:
pornzilla
(though it sounds bad, it is a clean site, no pics at all. Just a site that lists helpful extensions and stuff.)
Not sure what the keyword thing is though.
From the manual:
Detect Memory
- Auto-detection of DRAM size, type amd ECC.
- Auto detection of L2 cache (socket 7 or below)
Try resting the bios with the jumper
Last time I built a system, i bit on one of these $30 systems with a PSU...
PSU blew up on the first run of 3dMark 01. My guess is that it didn't have enough ventelation because it was only single fan, plus the fact that it was a $30 case/psu combo.
Personally, I think Alienware pc's are fuggly. That said, build one yourself with an Athlon 64. They are already falling in price (down to 380). Plus it only gives off like ~60 watts of heat even though the fan/heatsink are designed for ~90 watts, so they run cool ~40 degrees C
I have a 2400 from HP. Thing is relativly heavy (not that 7 pounds is that much) and hot. Lots of power though, I need to install win2k on it though and get that xp crap off it.
Appaernt;y they heard our complaining and they are going to support the 940 pin FX as long as demand is there. They will make a 939 pin one with a weird RAM configeration. Putting t dims on each side of the cpu so they can use 4 layer pcb on the mobo. Also allow the use of non registered ram
Siute has been posted here before in the teflon feet deal. Thats actually probaly the reason they did a beta test here, becuase we gave them so much buisness
Only for $4,200. Oh, wait, won't ship till the end of the month.

Well IBM is designing AMD chips now and fabbing some of them. Might be a roundabout way to use AMD. As metioned before, using PPC chips when you used x86 before dosen't make a whole lot of since
I would get a stick of 128 and get a $40 265k sodimm of newegg. Thats what I did. I also ordered a 20 gig hd, got lucky and and got a 30. This was a few months back
