Which heatsink for A64 3200+ (S754)

The major problem is the CPU doesn't have a heatspreader, just like a mobile A64. Which aftermarket heatsink will fit well, without leaving a gap in between?

GT is at 1.3V when running 3D. IMHO you should try flashing it with GT bios w/1.4V first, it's safer.

I mod the bios of my GT so that it runs at 1.4V (same as ultra) and it's watercooled. The max oc is 460/1.25.

How high can a 8RDA+ 1.1 hit?

If your 8RDA+ 1.1 is a relatively new one (i.e. made in last March or April), good chance it'd be using C1 stepping, which could hit > 210MHz at default Vdd easily. Mine one could go as high as 235MHz with very good stability and does need modding the Vdd.

Which 8RDA+ bios best for FSB oc?

My 8RDA+ V1.1 hit a wall at around 238MHz... Is there anyway I can push it further? There's no Vdd to adjust in BIOS...

Just did L12 mod, now I found something really funny

Sorry guys, it's so embarrassing to tell u that I made a mistake. The 13 and above multiplier is due to Abit NF7's 5bit frequency ID thing. With that thing any unlock Athlon can run with 5-22x multipliers.

Barely booted into memtest86... Barely booted into windows, crashd right after screenshot... My crappy CH5 memory doesn't like anything above 220MHz, tonight I'd get a pair of BH5.

Nforce 2.64 drivers Win2000/XP

The new ethernet driver is a hog to CPU, dropped my cpumark99 right from 236 to 230, that's a lot (equal to downclock from 2.5GHz to 2.4GHz)! At last I manually rolled back to the older ethernet driver. Everything else is working fine though, nothing broken.

YA 1700+ Overclock

1.7V is nice for 2.4GHz. When My 1800+ was with Alpha 8045 it needed 1.75V to run 2.4GHz, but now only 1.7V for watercooling. A few degree DOES make difference.

gf3, ti4600, ati 9600 or mx440se - which to keep

How much you need to pay for 9600? 4600 will be as fast or faster than 9600 in any current games (put AA/AF aside). 4600 is still very fast for all current games, and I don't think it'd be unplayable for any upcoming DX9 games. I suggest you to wait until there's great games your 4600 can't...

Should AMD implement HT for nothing more than a cooler running core?

Various methods exist for cooler AMD in idle mode. WCPREDIT is one of it. Currently HLT doesn't work for AMD without tweaking. Who to blame, M$? mobo? or AMD itself?

GF4 Ti-4200 over a GF3 Ti-200

I went from Geforce 3 (faster than Ti200) to Ti4600, only then I could play MOHAA at 1600x1200 full detail smoothly. GF3 only does 1280x1024 full detail playable. If you get a good deal then go for it. 4200 will last you long enough until decent DX9 games are out.

9500 np vs. TI4200 or TI4800SE

9500 is only fastest for DX9 because GF4 doesn't even support. For DX8 or earlier games both GF4 are faster than 9500. If you are into AA/AF and DX9 ready is a must, go for 9500. Otherwise go 4200.

Is S.M.A.R.T. Foolproof?

At least I once saw onboard Promies (Asus A7V133) reported SMART failure. I believe SMART only gives warning when it finds performance or parameter degradation over the time. Unfortunately the majority of HD failures is instant death.
