    When it makes any kind of loud noise, backup immediately (before you turn it off). Glad you were able to save your data. My failure indications always sounded like a marble dropping on a glass table...took one of them apart (casing only, left all electronics intact) and powered it up...

    isn't that northbrige hs?..and i'm installing my swiftech mcx462-U hs by weeks end, so i'll let you know...but holding it up there (w/o proc, which won't make any diff i don't think) it's fine...tons of room between northbridge hs and it, but it's pretty close to the caps, not touching tho.

    i've got 2x512 samsung 6ns PC2700 w/as3 and active cooling/heat spreaders and (to shorten things a bit) a lot of fans (delta, 2x YS-tech, vantec tornado) so i'm going for overclocking...i get my board in next week and i'll throw it in the case (Coolermaster ATC-210) and probably order some hsf's...

    as for all the memory questions...if the motherboard says you need pc2100 and you have pc3200 there shouldn't be any problem at all running it...just check that the RAM manufacturer/chips are listed as compatible at the motherboard manufacturers website. your questions are largely looked over...

    i have a radeon ddr 64 meg card and i'm running 1600x1200 on a 19 inch viewsonic which i enjoy, but i'm thinking about picking up a 15 inch LCD w/a native res of 1024x768...what's the cheapest way to be able to run 1600 on my current monitor still and 1024 on the LCD?..i know the matrox cards do...
