bad partition

nah, i tried that already. I did however download a program called iRecovery. It is the trial version and after taking a long time to scan the partition, it will allow me to copy over one folder off that partition at a time.

PhysX Cards

As far as I know, City of Villians has support for it which is a game I play. Cryptic is a development partner with Ageia so they created CoV with support and will add it to City of Heroes in an update.

Dell laptop/busted CD player/reinstall windows

OK, here is how I got it done. The bios never would let me boot off the usb CD-Rom. I did however find USB drivers for the CD-Rom and I made a boot floppy with the drivers on it so I could see the Windows CD. I had to delete stuff off the boot floppy to fit the CD-Rom driver on so I have to boot...

Windows XP file sharing woes

I figure it out...kinda... I had my D drive shared, well it would not work till I went in and right click the individual folder and shared it too. I thought shareing the drive letter would make the entire hard drive shared like in Windows 98, but be a XP thing.

I added a new HD to the 2nd IDE chain and set it to slave with a CDRom being the other device on the chain. The HD appears in the device manager and in the bios but not in My Computer....sigh....Help Please.

Intel Extreme Graphics 2

I just got a new Dell Dimension 3000 with Intel Extreme Graphics 2 at work where I do alot of Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw work. Would I get a good boost to performance if I stuck a 64 mb PCI card in there over the integrated graphics chip.

P4 computer slow when printing

Why does my 2.8 gig P4 slow so much when printing to my HP Deskjet 950C. I have 512 megs ram and I have spooling enabled and it is set to print as it spools. Should i make it spool the complete doc first before it prints?? I am using a regular printer cable and not a USB cable. Ideas??? Thx

I don't either. LCDs are kinda pricey already. A glass front just seems alot more durable for such a investment.

I never move it, I just get paranoid when stuff gets on the screen and I have to use those wet wipes to gently clean it. The entire picture tube is heavy in a CRT, one sheet of glass ontop of the viewing area of a LCD isn't gonna increase the weight that much.

Glass LCDs???

I recently bought a LCD and like it, but I am really paranoid about scuffing the plastic screen. Do they make any LCDs with a glass cover and if not then why?? It seems like a pretty good idea to me. I wish I could buy a glass cover that would clamp on to my display.

Is a 3.4 Prescott a good upgrade from a 2.8 Northwood

I thought about switching the motherboard with a 939 AMD and maybe getting a 3400. I definately want to keep my AGP card for a while and I have heard that there will be dual core AMDs that can use a 939 mb with a bios upgrade. But I have to say, my P4 may be slower, but I really like...

What does 64 bits do for you??

All I know is that a 64bit OS will address alot more memory than a 32 bit will. What else will it do. Will it be alot faster if you have a 64bit OS and program?? Will it have better security?? Can someone explain this to me...just the basics please.

Sigh....dead pixel

Yes they are paying the shipping, both ways. Hopefully the new one will be better. I could live with that one dead/stuck pixel if it were off to the side. Yeah, I got a LCD because my CRT hurts my eyes and gives me headaches.
