Battlefield 1 released!

Really hoping the map design and gunplay are on par with BC2/BF3. I've played every iteration, and felt everything up to BC2 had subpar mad design and infantry combat. BC2/BF3 were a serious step up for me. BF4 has abysmal map design and gunplay IMO.

StarWars Battlefront gameplay debut April 17th

Tried out the beta. Looks beautiful, but the gameplay is exceptionally boring. And even though the graphics are technically beautiful, the maps leave much to be desired. They're nothing but random open areas with snow or rocks. I like the soundtrack, and that's about it.

I never stopped playing BF3. Every once in awhile I reinstall BF4 and try it out, only to be quickly reminded of why I uninstalled it before. The engine/movement/animations/gunplay just feel terrible. The overall feel of the game is just off. I only wish there were still more decent BF3...

I'm pretty sure most people buy Battlefield games for the multiplayer. The company may have said something that lead you to believe the focus was on singleplayer, but I think they know where the real money is coming from.

So this thread gave me the itch to go back and play Day of Defeat and Red Orchestra 2. Check out some of this gameplay. Pay close attention to the sounds in Day of Defeat. It quite literally sounds about 100x better than any modern first person shooter. And the gunplay is soooo crisp...

Rising Storm is definitely worth $10. I actually prefer a bit more of an arcade feel like Day of Defeat or Bad Company, but it doesn't lean as far towards a simulation as say, ARMA. The gameplay is pretty solid and fun, and the teamwork is excellent.

Double agree. I just started playing Day of Defeat Source again and it's amazing. No minimap/spotting, high recoil, no leveling or attachments...I'm in heaven.

I don't see this happening really, as most games are developed in countries that were either taken over by Germans, or whose populace bled and died fighting them. Even the Germans themselves now are appalled by what their fathers/grandfathers did during that time. People want to play as heroes...

WW2 Online was a lot of fun when it launched. It definitely had trouble getting off the ground, but a modern version similar to Planetside 2 would be interesting. I'd still rather see a new Day of Defeat though. I want a gritty WWII FPS that isn't a simulation.

Bad Company 3 set in WWII would be perfect. Simulations can be fun, but even RO2 is a little too slow paced for my tastes. Something like Day of Defeat, but with modern ADS mechanics, more players, and larger maps is what I want.

Battlefield 3 Standard Edition is free till 6/3

Wow the free weekend is really boosting the player base. 59k players on at 7:30am? Meanwhile 26k are on Bf4. Obviously it will calm down after awhile, but dang. I'm one of the few that have kept playing BF3 instead of moving to 4, and I'm used to seeing like 3,000 people online.

Keyboard/Mouse vs. Console controller which do you think is faster

I think people are getting off track and starting to talk about which one they think is "better". To the question of which is faster, the keyboard and mouse any day of the week and twice on Sundays. You can't get an analog stick to turn your character nearly as quickly as you can with a mouse.

Yeah it affects everyone. It's actually coded into the game itself, so it has nothing to do with an individual's network connectivity. Basically, the time it takes for the server to get information from you (about things like: where you are, what you're doing etc...) and relay to everyone else...

BF4... Should I bother?!?

The movement and gunplay feels very clunky and unresponsive. I believe they were going for a more "realistic" feel, but it just ended up feeling bad. The animations are also really stiff and clunky. Everything about the game just looks and feels like it was rushed...and not by a few weeks in...
