man stock heatsinks suck for overclocking unless it's a low end dual core OCed to low 3GHz range without a volt bump. Get proper cooling and run your i7 at 4.5GHz or something ;)
Ebay your monitor as-is and grab a few $100s. Then head over to best buy and grab a 37" to 40" LCD TV for $500 to $700 and use that as a monitor. $1219 for a 30"? BAH!
Haven't seen any 42" this cheap except for used 720p plasmas. I paid $399 for my 32" 1360x768 Dynex(can be had for $350 today) it makes a wonderful monitor and text is large enough to easily read without going blind.
If you plan to upgrade again in a few months, just get two hd4850s they will be similar to the hd5850 for much cheaper and the hd4850s will keep their resale value better.
Your GPU-Z may be too old to properly detect new cards. Why not run some benchmarks with each card seperately and see how they perform? Would be interesting.

All the cpus in that review perform similar, any difference is due to higher clocks and more cache. The e8400 does just fine.
My 32" 720p LCD TV also does 1920x1080 but it looks like crap and text is very hard to read, that's because it's physically only 1360x768. The OP should just buy a real 1080p monitor(or TV) that supports this resolution natively!

Maybe this is the case today but I remember a few months ago, I read a review saying MLC was equal to 7200rpm HDD. My 2nd cousin last year said that fast SSD cost $5000 per GB! He says the cheaper SSD were slower than his 10,000 RPM SCSI HDD.

SSD drives are over $500 for a good one with SLC memory. The MLCs are much cheaper but no faster than your 7200rpm HDD. SSD is still very new technology, could be 5 years before you see your average user buying one of those for $99. Could be 15 years before SSD replaces HDD.

You won't see $200 hd5850s till ATI releases their refresh part mid/late 2010. Youll be waiting at least 3 years before hd5850s drop to $100. Hd4850s can be had for $100 used for the 512mb verson now. Make that $150 for a used 1gb hd4870.

reminds me of the voodoo5 6000 days. That card was just as long but with 4 gpus. It never made it to market because it was slow and missing alot of features and 3dfx was dying.

Agreed! On another note, hd5770 reviews are out and I was right, it doesn't touch the hd4870 in most games. It does beat the hd4850 across the board but you were right about that one, hd5770 has more bandwith than hd4850.
