Thanks partner, but have already done that. Was not thinking of reusing it in a computer; really want to convert the thing to a homemade lab bench top power supply. I however need to have the 5V working as well as the other voltages. Thus the reason why I wanted to correct that problem before...

My ULTRA 800W power supply has failed and on my ultra power supply checker I have lost the PG signal. The checker shows all cable plug voltages good though. However on checking with a multimeter I have observed that all of the 5V outputs have dropped to 3.8V. This I think is where my problem...

Many thanks Emulex. What is the best software I can use to copy the contents of my former boot drive to another hard drive. I had acronis on the original system. Not sure if it will work with the W7 64 bit. Might there be a W7 compatible version which I can download?

Lots of good info here guys. Looks like the C300 (256GB) might be the way to go as will be using Win 7. Just saw a post there re Intel road map and appears 4Q10 will bring upgrades from Intel to much higher capacities. Wonder if it will be worth waiting for?

Must have SSD in next build

So after all the gen I have just read on SSD's, can I conclude that the Intel X25-M ("G2" with trim) is the best SSD available for my next build? Raid is not in my plan, only the best SSD available for my OS and applications coupled with other good HDD's for storage etc. What say you?

E8600/The best mobo

What would be the best motherboard to purchase in order to overcloc the E8600? Would a stable 4.5ghz on air (120 extreme) be asking too much? Never tried water but am sure water would stretch it measurably higher. But lord knows I dread the leaks.

Thank you Fardringle, you're a genius. It was a virus. Malwarebytes found four of them, two of them refering to my background display. These were the culprits. I had malwarebytes delete them and now I am back to a decent desktop background. Many thanks once again.

Loss of Display Properties 'center' and 'stretch'.

Can anyone tell me why my desktop backgrounds only come up in tile format? Why can I no longer select stretch or center if I wish? Why does my Display Properties window only give me three tabs i.e themes, appearance, and settings? Where did the other two tabs disappear to? Am running xp pro.
