HP has dropped the quality on their laser printers over at least the past two years. Some of the QC decrease is obvious in the cheap, flimsy plastic of the printer housing. I don't know about the toner quality because I'm still using the supplied carts on my CP2025DN. Don't get me wrong, I...
I'm wondering if the price on the Dell 22" monitor for ~$270 in this week's circ is a good one? I'm interested in getting either a 22" or a 24" widescreen flat panel model. I've already passed on the 22" Samsung because the reviews I've seen say it has a restricted viewing angel and marginal...
This system is 4 years old but would chug along quite nicely with more ram (it can hold up to two gigs and has two available slots). The Corsair XMS' were hot stuff back then and I'd always intended to bring the memory up to at least 1 gig and maybe 2 if the price was (ha-ha) reasonable. So I...
Sorry, but I don't like to O/C the daylights out of something to get performance. Instead, I prefer to buy high performance at standard specs so I'll stick with my Corsair CAS 2 XMS chips.

OK, What part of, "$11.99 for a stack of 50 discs" is unclear to you? Just point it out and I'll try awfully, awfully hard to explain it further.
Picked up some of these today and will burn off some tonight. DVD Identifier shows them as CMC Magnetics Corp Media ID M01
I vaguely recall that CMC stuff was only marginal, could anyone post some opinions on this deal and the media? Thanks. :)
The other thing is that 64-bit O/S allows you to run over 4 gigs of ram. I've heard XP 64 bit O/S is a pain running due to lack of driver support, as Donxvi has stated. Why bother with it? Either get the 32-bit version or wait for Vista, as I see it.
By the way, I've seen statements that...
Anyone have any idea when/if Staples will run the $100 dollar rebate on the Win XP upgrade CD for $199 again? (just wishin' I'd jumped on that one when they ran it a couple of weeks ago). :(
Vista's going to be a resource hog for sure no matter which level people choose to install. You'd also have to expect some kind of performance hit anyway on a system that's going on four years old. The question is, when is a good time to upgrade?
There are those people who choose frequent...

I'm thinking this is pretty decent but not phenominal by a long shot. It gets me a legit copy the O/S for pretty cheap and I don't have to wait or pay for shipping.
Opinions?

Hi Mingsy -
Thanks for the post; the problems is with Tiger Direct. I'd guess no one wants to take the chance that they won't get the rebate, as Tiger's deals frequently have a way of doing. Appreciate the effort, though.

Thanks for the link to the mold quiz. I took it and they say there's a problem with the site and to call a phone (1-800-874-8624) number to get the shirt, which I'll do on Mon morning. Free is good, it is our friend.

Anyone know if the perpendicular storage tech is compatibile with an Intel 875 chipset? I'm using an Asus P4C800 Deluxe mb (bought in 6/2003), and I don't know if this combination works. The board does accept SATA drives so I'd like to buy one of these since I'm using a 6 year old Seagate for...

This would def be a hot deal if someone were using an earlier version of windows, or if it was for Windows XP Professional. Just my $.02.

DVD Decryptor & DVD Shrink are pretty much on everyone's list. They do a good job and are freeware. There are some copy protection scheme's out there that Decryptor cannot handle, or at least I wasn't able to get it to do the rip. Basic Instinct II is an example that comes to mind...
This is a question that used to pop up a long time ago. Lots of companies would leave their machines running overnight in the belief that it would extend the life of the machines, because they wouldn't be subject to cooling off overnight (unused) and then heating up during the day with use...
Hi -
I need to replace my aging 'C' drive; its a 6+ year old Seagate ATA model. I don't want to go with an IDE replacement as I will be doing an upgrade probably within 1 year, so I'm wondering if I can connect a new SATA drive to the motherboard and use new the SATA as drive C ? Does this...
I want to replace my hacked version of XP Pro with a legitimate copy and I'm wondering if this is a good way to go? I've seen OEM versions of the OS for less, but I want to avoid the OEM restrictions that they carry (ie limited # of times to reinstall after h/w upgrades, etc.) Does this seem...

Try using almost anything else besides the Old Spice stuff and you should see an improvement; Buy more of whatever brand you use if it doesn't last all day, but the O/S has minimal attraction to ladies.
What about if you waited for payday and tried some uptown brand for the heck...
 Hi Zim -
I didn't know BB has these on sale regularly but now I'll check they're ads on Sunday's, so thank's for the heads-up on them.

:D Just returned from a visit to the Cambridge, MA Microcenter where they had these same Verbatim discs on sale for $39.99 per pack of 50 cakebox (!).

So now I'm wondering how the lightscribe discs look, compared to the inkjet-printed discs. Since the lightscribes are more expensive, I'd assume the finished images would look sharper, but I haven't seen any. Anyone know about these?
Just curious,

 Jawo - I bought 3-50 packs of the +R discs and they come out as MMC 004's with CD Identifier. I might pick up a couple more if I can get over there while they're available. I was going to buy 100 16x TY's, but these are at least $10 less (over $20 less if you include shipping) and I...
 I tried out a couple of these yesterday and they burned flawlessly without any problems. CD Identifier confirmed these are MMC 004's too, so I went back this morning and picked up 2 more cake boxes. I still TY's but these will do very well in the meantime. Thanks very much to OP...
FWIW -
 I absolutely appreciate the H/D price lists. I'd be interested in blank DVD if they're quality TY's. There are always junk brands on sale so that stuff wouldn't be news to me. Look forward to reading what you decide to do.

Thanks OP for the heads up, but I'm wondering if this is an actual story or an excuse to deliver tons of advertising for leftist points of view? Guess I'll find out soon enough.
