BSOD

Weird Problem

HDMI to VGA

I'm trying to connect a second computer to my NEC Monitor. I have a vga port available on the monitor but only a dvi and hdmi port on my Asus Radeon HD 6670. The card came with a adaptor vga to dvi but that doesn't work. Would a hdmi to vga adaptor work?

Win8.1 Preview

I downloaded the Windows 8.1 preview and burned the ISO to a disk. It seemed to work fine except it asked for drivers on Installation. Haven't had that asked since WinXP. Anybody know what drivers there looking for. I do have an SSD. Could that be it?

Router Installation

Went back to Fry's today and got a replacement. Installed the new one and same problem. So, I had an extra NIC and had a vacant slot open so I disabled the onboard Lan, installed the PCI NIC and it worked. Keeping my fingers crossed.

New Graphics Card

I was wondering if getting a Radeon 5770 or 6670 with GDDR 5 Memory was worth it given my older system with Asus M4A785-M Motherboard. I am not a big gamer so I am looking mainly for quality, video streaming, dvd playback etc. The DDR 3 Cards are considerably cheaper.

I tried running bcdedit from the cmd prompt running as Admin. I get the follow message The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The system cannot find the file specified. EasyBCD did not seem to work on Win7. It asked for Vista.

Weird ASUS M4A785-M Motherboard Problem

No, I didn't delete the old drivers. I did try disabling the onboard nic in the Bios but no help. The NIC does show up in Device Manager and it say's it's working properly. No yellow marks next to the entry. I can't figure out why it works on just that one instance of WinXP Pro.
