Thanks for the reply. I'm trying to track down a VXA-2 Firewire drive (can't find any in stock). I've received mixed messages from Exabyte whether or not the Firewire drive will accept the SCSI command set, which is important to me because I talk to the drive by sending my own SCSI commands...
I'm trying to put together the parts to read an Exabyte VXA-2 tape drive using a notebook computer. It can be done with a PCMCIA SCSI card, but that solution is very slow.
1. Does anyone know of an ExpressCard SCSI adapter?
2. Has anyone used a Firewire to SCSI cable?
3. Any other ideas...
The T60 itself does not have DVI, but you can get DVI with a docking station. If you get the Advanced Dock, it has a DVI, plus a PCI-Express slot to put another video card in.

I tested both drives in both the Dell Inspiron 8600 (1.7 Centrino) and IBM Thinkpad T42p (2.1 Dothan) and found that the 7K60 makes both systems significantly more responsive.

In some cases, undervoltage can be more dangerous than overvoltage on components. If the circuitry is fused for overvoltage, you're protected. But there is often no protection from undervoltage, which can be very bad for some circuits.

Simple. Get PCMCIA video card with DVI. A Margi display-to-go or a VillageTronic VTBook will work just fine with your X series. I prefer the Margi, but you'll probably have to buy one off of e-bay bacause Margi has discontinued them.

OEM for sure. If memory serves, the A22 uses 12.5mm drive height. So either the 9.5mm or 12.5mm will work fine. Most 2.5" drives on the market today are 9.5mm.

I think it would be neat to have a PDA that docks right into a notebook, with the display facing out. That way you could remove the PDA for a quick phone number or whatever, it syncs and charges automatically while docked, and you could use the display to indicators for whatever pupose.

I once had a similar problem. The LED's blinked like the system was powering up, but nothing would appear on the LCD.
The problem was that the BIOS was configured to boot on the external display. Try plugging a monitor on the VGA connector and see if you can see anything when it's booting.
I don't have this prob with my 8600. I would look at your startup folder and the contents of HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run to see what programs are executed when you reboot.

I just received my T42p (2373Q1U), 2.1GHz, 15" UXGA. This thing is a jewel.
Look at the Dell 9200 with their lowest resolution (1440x900). It probably offers one of the biggest pixel sizes for a top-end topbook.
As far as external displays, the Dell 1901FP is a really nice flap-panel monitor with a native resolution of 1280x1024

Chaotic42 - your results confirm what I said earlier that resolution past 1280x1024 won't change the results very much. Same RotateBitmap and memory bandwidth numbers.
